Welcome to the new Kelly Prince Writes!
For the past few months I’ve felt like something wasn’t quite clicking for me with my blog. Not that I was experiencing writer’s block per se, I’ve actually been excited about writing again. More that it felt a little too all over the place.
When I created my blog, I was simply looking for a creative outlet. I’ve always been the type of person who has a million thoughts buzzing around in my head and it seemed like blogging was going to be the perfect solution to get it all out there. To get creative, to have an outlet for it all.
It’s been a scary adventure in some ways. Being vulnerable in an open forum. Sharing more of my personality that I ever thought I would. But it has also been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done for myself. I’ve made so many friends through the blogging community. Found my voice. Improved my writing and, thank god, my photography over time. Blogging has made me the person I am in 2018. It has shaped me.
Still, it felt like it was time to do more. To have a little more ownership over what I’m putting into everything. And to make it feel a little more structured than my usual method of popping blog posts up as and when I like to.
So I’m more than delighted. I’m actually a little bit giddy to introduce you to the new and improved Kelly Prince Writes.
I fell in love with the design well over a month ago and the crew at Pipdig always help get the ball rolling. For the past few weeks I’ve been planning the switch. Analysing what it looks like, what the new website is all about, from the colours to the concepts straight down to the content.
I’ve known for awhile what I’ve really wanted it to become.
So what can you expect in the ~future~ for Kelly Prince Writes?
1. The New Brand.
I’m falling in love with sandy, neutral tones, peachy pinks and gray colouring. Does it make sense? I’m not sure I’ll be able to stick to these, but I’m quite enjoying the hazy tonal quality to everything I’m photographing and editing lately. Let me know what you think, but I’m kind of thinking that 2018 is the year I cannot be bothered about Instagram comments and likes and much like the blog, I’m just going to post exactly what I want to. Cheers to that!
2. Lifestyle & Travel.
Maybe it still seems a little bit vague. But I like it. Everything boils down to these brackets of my life. I’ve been saying for years how I want to travel more. Trying to get the correct visas for myself and Joe has complicated this slightly over the years. It’s meant that our money has gone towards legal fees rather than exploring the world, like we’d always wanted.
I’ve decided that I can’t let it deter me. Because even if we’re exploring the places we’re living in, it’s important to continue the adventure. And travel in 2018 is going to be a massively important part of my life. In a few weeks I’m off to Paris. Then we’re heading back to the States for a good chunk of the spring and summer. Punta Cana in June. Boston in the autumn. And hopefully adding to the travel collection along the way.
And let’s not forget about the lifestyle. It’s my way of incorporating everything into one tidy subject line. Expect posts about fashion and food but with a more lifestyle focus on daily life.
3. Photo diaries
Last but not least, I want to introduce a weekly photo diary. Each week this post will be focused solely on imagery, instead of a text heavy post. I toyed with the idea of mini-posts (inspired by The Londoner’s posts) but came to the conclusion that I might as well call it a photo diary.
And that’s it folks! I always say I’ll see how it goes. I never like regimenting my blogging too much. And our lives will be changing drastically in the next few months with all our travel plans underway.
But most of all, I can’t wait to bring you along for the new adventures.
Thanks for joining the new and improved KPW.
