Two weeks ago, I was invited along to Run to the Beat, a 10K race sponsored by Sure UK around Wembley Stadium.
As an avid runner (okay, most of the time, when it’s not cold), with an offer like that, how could I refuse?
Of course, first I had to get the kit sorted.
Sure UK are your new go-to, keeping you relatively sweat free/less disgusting when you’re working out or living your daily life. After all, a journey on the tube is practically a workout these days. Anyways, the lovely Sure UK team sent through their Sure UK Motionsense 48hr anti-perspirant for me to test out on race day. The formula responds to your movements, ensuring you stay so fresh and so clean.
The morning of the race had me feeling…
Ambitious and excited. It’s been a long time since I’ve run that sort of distance. I’ve been sticking in the 2-3 mile range for a good few months. Regardless, we were ready to tackle the challenge. And I smelled good. Win-win already.
And we weren’t the only ones flocking to the England team’s home base! It was getting pretty busy at Wembley.
We picked up our new gear and prepped for go time.
The start of the race sees you through the electric tunnel… the Sure UK race is all about having fun, and the obvious, running to the beat.
And we MAY have taken a few photos along the way…
I won’t share the photos of J eating biscuits during the first mile (“I forgot to eat breakfast!” – His words), or my struggles up the impossible hills around the Wembley area (Who knew?)
But here is my personal favorite below.
This had us cracking up as we moved closer to the finish line.
The Run to the Beat race was certainly a challenge, but I was proud of myself for completing it without stopping once, not even to walk. We ran the whole thing. It was great to have a partner there pushing me to keep going. J has some sort of impressive internal motivation to keep laughing the entire way through… even on the hills.
And hey, surprisingly, after running a 10k… I felt good!
So cheers to Sure UK for keeping me on track with my fitness goals! I’ll definitely be signing up to Run to the Beat next year.
Kelly xoxo
