Welcome to… The Night Court ✨🏔️🌌🦇

Soooo I think I might have to remove any and all social media, emails and notifications on my phone from tonight because I am desperate to avoid spoilers of A Court of Splintered Harmony 😅

Anyways! I’m almost through my ACOTAR reread and it’s jusssssst in the nick of time. Who else is going to be glued to their pages tomorrow? 🙋🏼‍♀️

ad | Did you know that on the night of Samhain, aka Halloween, when the veil is thin…spirits and the supernatural are said to be able to cross into our physical world? Are YOU ready to celebrate Samhain in Ireland?@tourismireland 🎃👻🕯️

Irish spirits, ghouls, hauntings & stories to know? ⬇️
🐈‍⬛The Púca: A shape shifting spirit that transforms into various animals, a black horse, goats, cats, donkeys, bulls, dogs, foxes, wolves, and hares, though always with jet-black fur and glowing eyes! Known as a bit of a trickster!
🧚 The Aos Sí (Fairies of the Mound): Fairies that come out of ancient fairy forts for moonlight gatherings. Known for being extremely protective, they can retaliate against anyone who disturbs sacred or rural land
👻 The Banshee: A spirit who if you hear their wailing…perhaps means an approaching death! 😅
🐺In Galway, watch for the great Black Dog when crossing the Wolfe Tone bridge at midnight, if you don’t make it fast enough, he’ll take you!
🏰 Leap Castle is one of the most haunted castles in the world, right in County Offaly! A very spooky past and one to add to haunted bucket list travels!
🎭The tradition of dressing up and wearing masks comes from tricking the spirits into believing you’re one of them! Wearing a mask hides your true identity so you’ll be left unharmed on Samhain

I love how Irish storytelling is so woven into everyday life and truly some of my favourite stories surround the spirits and stories of Samhain!

One last fun fact for you! The tradition of communal bonfires on Samhain originated as a way to ward off the dark and evil spirits. It’s a tradition that I still love today, the glowing embers feel like the perfect way to bring in the autumn 🍂🎃🔥

📍Ireland, the Home of Halloween 🎃👻🕯️

ad | Did you know that Ireland is actually THE birthplace of Halloween? @tourismireland 🎃🍂🏰🍁

Halloween as we know it today originated from the ancient Celtic, Samhain. And did you know that Samhain actually means, “summer’s end”? The celebration of Samhain marks the beginning of the dark half of the year as we welcome winter.

And you’ll certainly be sure to find celebrations all over Ireland throughout the month of October! I’ve been lucky enough to spend the last FOUR Halloween’s across the isle of Ireland and have had the absolute best time exploring: from @pucafestivalireland in Trim, @macnas in Galway, @derryhalloween: Europe’s Largest Halloween Celebration!, and Halloween last year was spent exploring County Limerick & County Kerry.

So, when are YOU going to spend Halloween in Ireland?! 😍
