Also, if he wanted to, he would! He drove us 5 hours up here, we stayed the night and then drove us 5 hours back home the following morning so we could get back to catch a flight the day after. Welcome to the Salem Pioneer Village 🐈‍⬛🛖🌾

A little outside of the city of Salem, (seriously, less than a 5 minute drive) you’ll find the Salem Pioneer Village. You miiiiiiight also recognise this from Hocus Pocus! This is where they filmed the opening scenes where Thackery Binx lives! There’s even a little plaque at his house 🐈‍⬛.

This Pioneer Village was actually built in 1930. And it was built as a celebration to mark the three hundredth year of Massachusetts. It is also America’s first living history museum. The village is comprised of different examples of colonial architecture. You’ll find dugouts, thatched roof cottages, and the Governor’s Faire House. There’s also culinary & medicinal gardens and a blacksmith shop to showcase early 17th-century colonial life.

Only open on the weekends! Saturdays and Sundays 12pm-4pm. The hours are a bit challenging for tourists, however, I think this is quite a cool stop if you can manage to visit.

Don’t miss a sighting of Doonagore Castle while ex

Don’t miss a sighting of Doonagore Castle while exploring Doolin, Ireland. It’s a 16th century tower house castle. You can’t actually go inside as it’s now a privately owned home. But you can absolutely see it from the road below it, or a little wander along the gorgeous Cliffs of Moher walking trail, like here! ❤️

Stepping into Chetham Library, feels like you’ve been transported back centuries.

Established in 1653, it’s the oldest public library in the English-speaking world. The medieval architecture, complete with dark wood paneling (hello Hogwarts vibes) is a book lover’s dream. This hidden gem is an absolute treasure trove of history and literature. The library houses over 100,000 volumes, many of which date back to the 16th and 17th centuries.

If you’re ever in Manchester, don’t miss out on this enchanting spot. It’s the perfect escape for book lovers and history buffs alike!
