The last time I went to Disney World I was obsessing about jumping with Tigger and meeting Cinderella.
Going back as an adult is a slightly different story. I’m less about meeting the characters (I know this a BIG deal for some people though – you go Glen Coco!) and more about exploring the architecture, appreciating the beautiful visuals and hopping on the rides.
Amongst the many amazing things we did that day – I wanted to dedicate a post to sharing a few of my favourite Instagram hotspots from the Magic Kingdom park.
Because there are so many places to snap a photo for the gram, I’ve rounded up my favorites for you to enjoy too!
The must Disney World Magic Kingdom shots to capture:
On Main Street USA
We had to start right from the top, of course. It’s Main Street USA! This iconic walk is the perfect spot to snap your starting photo of the day. Bonus points if you have your own ears (the sparkly ones are my favourite) or a balloon!
Cinderella’s Wishing Well
I spotted this perfect Insta spot after seeing blogger Rach Martino’s visit there (of course, gorgeous Cinderella kitted out too). Annoyingly, the day of our visit was when the famous moat just happened to be drained. Which makes it look a little bit less glamorous. I’m sure it’s not that often that it’s drained though! So that’s the spot to be.
The solo snap in front of Cinderella’s Castle
This is a tough one to nail because there is typically a big queue of people wanting to get this shot. I can totally confirm that it’s worth the wait for a clear shot of that beautiful castle though. Don’t you think?
Go for a busy full Castle shot too!
Embrace the fact that there are A LOT of people at Disney World. And the Magic Kingdom is likely the most popular park to be in. Which means that unless you get there right when the doors open, your shots will end up with people in them. And that’s OK!
I liked embracing the fact that my photos aren’t always completely empty. And these shots came out great.
Perch yourself on the side of the castle
I somehow had this idea in my head to sit on the railings leading up to the castle – and it turned out great! You can angle your camera to avoid any oncoming tourist traffic too.
PS. I really had to hoist myself up onto that railing! It’s not a super comfortable position to hold, but like my grandma has said before, pain is beauty!
As an additional Castle “side” shot, I loved how these turned out along the walkway.
A little tip ahead of your visit: remember that sometimes the castle walkways are closed throughout the day. It’s due to the parades. So time it well or look up the parade times in advance (something I didn’t do).

Near the fountains – called the “hub grass”
It’s nearly impossible later in the day to get a snap of the castle with no-one in the shot so I’d like the idea of a slightly chaotic one instead. The Magic Kingdom opens up this space during the day to lounge and wander around before closing off the area for fireworks at night. I love the flowers in the background and the fountain flowing, don’t you?
I found out this is called the “hub grass” according to everyone on Instagram too. Though I think we should petition to call it something more magical…
Anywhere with a Mickey Pretzel
You’ll feel a little like a Disney villain biting straight into Mickey’s head but you get over it pretty quickly. There are probably better places to actually take a photo of this snack but we. needed. to. eat.
Purple Wall and Candy Stripe Wall
So these are simply honorable mentions because I didn’t actually take any photos at these spots. When I was writing this post I realized I’d left them off my radar. Andpeople find them to be a pretty big deal! But I think you can find cool walls anywhere, so these aren’t musts on my list, you know?
I know, you’re thinking it’s plenty of Main Street and Cinderella’s Castle! But that’s the beauty of it – I love the iconic places you can get your Instagram snaps while still being imaginative about how you do it.
These are my favourite spots, but if you’re a Disney fan, I’d love to hear about your best places to take your Instagramable photos in the parks.
Do you agree with these picks?
