Continuing on from my last post about our delicious vegan/veg lunch at Iydea in Brighton… we carried on our exploration of the little city by the sea.
Despite the lack of sun the entire day. It didn’t rain. So we couldn’t have been more delighted with Brighton.
But full from a big lunch and weary of rain potential, we wandered over to the Royal Pavilion.
This palace, created for the super fab George IV, sticks out from the usual grandeur we expect from English palaces. It felt like stumbling into a bizarre take on the Taj Mahal. But hey, we were cool with that.
J was being very considerate of royal property. But also, stylish, so he’s forgiven.
He also managed to sneak a couple shots inside the palace. It was pretty glamourous, so I was okay with the rule breaking. Also, better for him to get caught than me!
Sara and I back outside the Royal Pavilion. Also, a rare opportunity for me to feel tall.
We navigated our way through the rest of the park, passing flute players and bird feeders along the way. This guy above was squawking louder than the rest of the park sounds. As birds are my most feared animal, this was a terrifying experience. Sara and J spent the rest of the way out protecting me from rogue birds approaching us.
After walking off lunch, we decided to head for a quick pick me up at the Small Batch Coffee Company.
Located on Jubilee Street in Brighton, the Small Batch Coffee Company certainly proves it has nothing in common with its name. There was so much coffee. So it was essentially heaven.
They have what’s called the syphon bar, where they serve up filtered coffees. I wish we’d ordered/participated in this. It looked like a cool science experiment for coffee aficionados.
Typical movember accessories.
Finally, coffee time.
Since I usually go for the strongest coffee possible, I ordered a Long Black. And it was seriously strong. And delicious. But you know, not for the faint of heart.
J got a glamourous Cappuccino.
Sara ordered a Flat White with Soy. We are assuming soy milk simply does not style as well.
After sitting and enjoying our afternoon pick me ups, we finally bid adieu to Small Batch and went on our way.
Has anyone visited Brighton lately? I’m definitely crushing on all these lovely cafés and restaurants.
xx Kelly

Yum – that coffee looks amazing! Brighton looks really beautiful too – even if there was typical English rain.

Thanks Sam! Brighton really was lovely, and I seriously have cravings for that coffee again. I’m making plans to head back there ASAP for more friend bonding and coffeehouse exploring. X

I had forgotten how much I adore Brighton – it’s only about half an hour away on the train so I don’t know why I haven’t been for a few years. Thank you for sharing the lovely (and contraband!) photos Kelly – I really enjoyed the post. Selma
