We all know, that after a cool glass of vino my go-to drink is a gin and tonic. In the past few months, I’ve actually started to sway more towards ordering cocktails than I ever had been before. You know when you’re too timid to order up some crazy cocktail at the bar that you’ve never heard of and might really not like and also spend half your paycheck on? Yep, me too. So, I know I’m always going to be set with a yummy G&T.
Therefore, a full night of #ginspired fun at Brasserie Blanc’s latest opening in Fulham therefore sounded right up my alley. Especially as I’m always on the lookout for adding new ingredients to my bar cart.
After all, Brasserie Blanc has always been one of my favourite places to visit. Their Covent Garden site (which sadly closed), was always a staple for nights out in central London. I love the ease of the menu, with something for everyone, and it never necessarily felt like you were going to a chain, even though they have sites across the UK. Each one is bespoke with their own unique twist, which makes it seem like they’re all their own individual spaces.
Anyways! A quick trip on the bus and a short walk led us down to Brasserie Blanc, right along the river Thames dancing the edges of Fulham and Hammersmith. The views are beautiful and depending on the time, you can catch a glimpse of a sunset over the water. We arrived a little on the later side at night, so we caught it just as the sky fell into darkness… even the bridge hadn’t lit up yet.
Brasserie Blanc’s new site has a sleek backdrop set amongst new builds along the water. But it’s cosy too. I can imagine that winter evenings here are in my very near future. But I digress, we were here for the epic gin collaboration! And to learn about it, taste it, and to create our very own delights. Brasserie Blanc have partnered up with the teams at Bombay Sapphire and Fever Tree to talk us through the qualities, the properties, the origins of G&Ts. I *think* I’ve known for awhile that they were originally intended to cure (or at least, prevent) malaria. Not sure I have that to worry about, but I’m considering it a health benefit anyways.
And following hearing all about gin and tonic, it was about time we got straight into it. Brasserie Blanc have just launched their Gin and Tonic trolley as well as their new autumn menu. Which ahem, we just happened to sample. It’s all a big YES from us. Now, because I’m so tragically behind on my blog posts, I didn’t realize (because I am the worst and apparently awful at reading) that they were hosting their annual Festival of Flavour from the 2-15th of October. But fear not, because even though the Festival is over, there’s still super good news. Because Brasserie Blanc obviously still has gin on their menu… and I can already attest that the new autumn food menu is delicious. So you can still enjoy all of the goodness.
Tables were adorned with these super cute ingredients boxes. Honestly, I’m really thinking that I need this for my bar cart actually. Think I’d impress a few guests with that one? Me too.
The drinks were a big hit around the room (of course), but it was also the menu that had our mouths watering. Brasserie Blanc treated us to sample their autumn menu and it did not disappoint.
My personal favourite of the evening was the Black Truffle and wild mushroom risotto. But the salmon and crab fishcake was a true contender. I was also partial to the charcuterie plate. It’s always something I like to order with wine, but I have to say, it goes preeeeetty well with a G&T. And we couldn’t resist the blue cheese rarebit. It’s a must-order.
Finally, we finished the night off with more gin and tonic(s). The combination of choice? Bombay Sapphire, Indian Tonic Water, Peppercorns, springs of rosemary and a slice of grapefruit. Not bad for this inexperienced cocktail maker, right?
Venue on over to Brasserie Blanc to check out their new autumn menu annnnd to get a cheeky taste of their gin collection. Trust me, this is what autumn nights should be all about.
