You’d like to think that leaving my job would have left me with days filled with relaxing, eating my weight in bon-bons and taking up watching soaps in the afternoon.
Oh boy, how very wrong.
It’s been days packed with meetings for work, striving to create fresh content, events in the evenings and well… by the end of the day, I’ll admit it, I’m kind of shattered. Ironically, fitting in time for me has never been so challenging. So when an evening with the promise of relaxing at the very core came my way, I thought, that’s exactly what the doctor ordered.
Centered around the feeling of adding more relaxation and enhancing your everyday senses, Mira Showers created an indulgent evening for us to relax and unwind, finding our very our #MiraMoments.
First up? Transporting us to a spa-like atmosphere with big comfy white robes and tropical cocktails. With a dreamy Piña Colada in hand, paradise doesn’t seem too far away.
Add in head massages and I’m truly on another level of happiness. I also think it’s about time I invest in having masseurs follow me around constantly. If that was an economical tip, I’d say just do that. But it’s not, really, is it? So we’ve got to settle on the little things that can make every day shine just a little bit brighter and bring a sense of calm to our bods.
So, without further ado, my 7 easy ways to enhance your everyday:
1. Candles
Such an easy one right?! I look forward to cosy autumn nights where I can light all the candles in my flat and get it smelling like pumpkins, spice and everything nice.
2. Warm drinks
It may sound silly, but taking that first sip of coffee in the morning makes everything better. My favourite thing to do is to set the coffee pot the night before so that the moment I wake up, I can instantly have a hot cuppa. I realise how very sad it is that this is one of my favourite things, but I’m not even a little bit sorry.
3. Sweet treats
I’m a savoury kind of girl by nature, but every now and then, I’ll crave something sweet. And you know what? I won’t deny myself chocolately goodness when I want it. Plus, dark chocolate has health benefits right? Studies indicated that it can improve health and lower the risk of heart disease. Bring it on.
4. A steamy shower
You know the healing power of a good bath? Well, I’d totally recommend one of those… but for those of us who don’t have a functioning bathtub (hands up!), a hot steaming shower can heal it all too.
After the evening of relaxing with #MiraMoments, we brought home one of their Mira Showers shower heads and honestly, it immediately enhanced my mornings. We’d been using the shower head that came with our flat for the past three years. Unknowingly, I should have gotten a new one. It has a few different settings and the rainforest is the go-to.
5. Cosy blankets
Who doesn’t love coming in from a long day and cosying up under soft blankets?
6. Bath products, lotions and potions
If you’re lucky enough to have an actual bathtub, you already know that Lush is where it’s at for their epic bath bombs. But equally, I find having a pamper session is one of the best ways to destress. I personally love a good face mask, and I’ve become enamored with Clinique’s Charcoal Clarifying Mask. It gets rid of everything stuck in your pores and makes you feel squeaky clean. It’s especially great for those of us living in big cities, where you need to wash off the day.
We also learned a little bit about scents and natural beauty ingredients during our evening. The lovely ladies from Midas Touch, taught us about skincare and routines, alongside helping us create a scrub and a to use before sleep.
7. Meditation
Ugh. I know, it’s the last thing you want to hear. But since I’ve started going back to yoga, I’ve realised that sometimes, all you need is a few minutes with your eyes closed. Whether that’s taking a second in the morning before starting your day, on your lunch break or even unwinding at home. Close your eyes. Think about nothing. It’s hard, but it helps. And over time, it gets easier to relax.
Thanks again to the lovely team at Mira Showers and Talented Talkers for having us.
Kelly xoxo
