When in Hawaii… you must eat the fish. It’s kind of a requirement.
And when in Maui, you kind of need to have the Mahi Mahi burgers at the Paia Fish Market.
Deceivingly, at the Paia Fish Market there is no bartering for fish amongst locals eager to bring home a fresh catch. It’s a small open style restaurant. There are long tables with accompanying benches. You order up at the counter and then grab a seat wherever you can find space.
A little out of focus, but I wanted you guys to see what the restaurant looks like. Plus, I was really loving my Maui Esky Flavor hat. These are all over the island, all different kinds of colors, super vibrant, and each uniquely amazing.
Anyways back to the Paia Fish Market. It takes a little while for your order to be completed, but it’s absolute quality and worth the wait.
We both ordered the Mahi Mahi burgers. With fries. Because, that’s necessary.
The amount of calories in this baby would probably disgust anyone.
But I mean, how good does it look?
Okay, one more time.
Amazing. Filled with flavor. Delicious.
So once we filled up, we took a little tour around Paia.
Camera in tow.
The town of Paia is a quiet beauty.
You can find everything from real estate locations to art galleries, gift shops and coffee houses to tucked away bars.
It’s definitely an eclectic artistic little surf town.
And in case you didn’t know, Willie Nelson is a big fan of Maui. In fact, he’s a long time buddy with the owner of Charley’s.
And Charley’s saloon was named after a curious great dane who belonged to the owner.
Lucky dog!
We didn’t have time to stop in an pay tribute to the great dane, but someday we’ll be back for a drink or two.
Paia is definitely a must see town in Maui. And when you do go… you have to grab a burger at the Paia Fish Market! (And don’t forget about Mama’s Fish House!)
Okay. Question time.
Where’s your all time favorite burger place? Come on, share with the group, we all have one!
xx Kelly
