Two bottles of wine later…
Sometimes you’ve just got to get yourself out of the house.
With lack of car access at the moment, and living out of London, our lives have been seriously turned upside down. I’m not used to the severe lack of independence. Doing what I want, when I want. Just call me Veruca Salt. The feeling is fleeting, it’s temporary, and I know this. When I’m thinking rationally, I can handle this like a professional.
Irrationall however, some days, you just want to have a wander into the shops, head to a cute pub and just be.
So in the spirit (quite literally) of getting ourselves back into old habits…
Joe and I took the bus into town.
Mind you, buses outside of the city run a little differently. In Southampton’s suburbs that means one every half hour. So off we went. Waiting at the bus stop for it to whizz along and pick us up. A cool £6 later and we were on our way.
We spent some time wandering through the shopping centre (happily – a place I feel instantly like all is right in the world). I bought a couple of bits and then decided it was time to plop ourselves down at the pub, The Pig in the Wall (in Southampton, it’s one of my favourite spots) where we could sit, enjoy and relax for the next few hours.
AND BOY DID IT FEEL BLOODY BRILLIANT.
Being economical, we ordered a bottle of wine to share. Some tactical nibbles. And we sat at The Pig in the Wall. We talked for hours. We watched the sun go down. Laughing, we tipsily ordered another bottle. Foolishly fun, always in love.
And the time passed until we realised, we’d missed the last bus.
