We’re almost there! Christmas is here!
Although, 2015 is definitely the year of a very green Christmas, which is kind of depressing to see…
So in the spirit of getting excited about Christmas despite the tropical weather… here are the 10 Reasons Christmas Is The Best.
1. Christmas Lights
I am in LOVE with Christmas lights. Flying into my hometown for the holidays, we spotted all the Christmas lights from the plane and it was AMAZING.
Also, if you happen to wander down Bond Street or Regent Street in London, you’re treated to stunning light views.
2. Christmas Cookies
These are so not a thing in England, but in the USA baking sugar cookies is the absolute best. Eating them, even better. We’re going to be baking round two tonight.
3. Being Home
Yep. When you pull up to your house after months of being away, it just looks absolutely fantastic, doesn’t it?
4. Looking ridiculous
There is no better time to be looking like a hipster wrapped up like a messy present. Ugly Christmas sweaters reign supreme at the holidays. I bought Joe and I matching ones that say ‘Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal.’ Don’t hate.
5. Decorating the Tree
I LOVE picking out the Christmas tree. Okay, I admit that I forgo any type of environmental love in honor of this tradition, but having a real tree at Christmas is so iconic that it has to happen. Last year I made Joe carry one to the flat from a few blocks away. This year, we have an epic one at my parents house that we picked out and helped decorate.
6. Wine Time
You can kind of get sloshed at the holidays and not worry about leaving your home. Start on the Mimosas (Buck’s Fizz) and get into the party spirit. Or if you’re lucky enough, you can sip on homemade eggnog. Most of us are off work for the holidays, so everyday is party day. The obvious upside to hosting your family at your house for the holidays means no worries about driving, you’re in for the day.
7. Presents!
Okay, I love getting presents. I’m not even ashamed to admit it. I’ve had my eye on a few little beauties, so fingers crossed. But I also love giving gifts to my family and friends. I can’t wait until everyone opens theirs up on Christmas morning.
8. Christmas Movies
Home Alone is the ultimate Christmas film. However, we’ve been spoiled with the amazingness of Love Actually and Elf. And I’ll always want to take a little trip to Whoville to celebrate Christmas, so The Grinch is loved in our house. Of course, the old classics will always be favorites; White Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street. Clearly, we really love our Christmas movies.
9. Christmas Music
I am fairly certain I could listen to old Christmas songs all year long. Blue Christmas, Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree or Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. There’s something about the vocal quality of these songs that keeps you hooked. Naturally, we all still love a bit of Mariah, we’re only human after all.
10. Family and Friends
It’s the season of giving! The season for happiness with friends and family! So regardless of it it snows or not, it doesn’t really matter. When you’ve got the people you care about by your side, nothing else really matters, does it?
Christmas is definitively the best ever.
