It seems that the best place to find steak these days is in London. And with my Dad visiting good old England, I figured it would be good to stick to the basics: Steak. So I booked a table for three at Chop Shop.
A relatively new haunt in London, the Chop Shop boasts some seriously delicious eats.
So let’s tuck in.
The menu is centralized around a variety of steaks and has top notch appetizer dishes to start.
And of course, cocktails.
While the boys were good and ordered sodas, I went straight for the Royal Blush.
Vodka, mint, fresh lime, raspberry and sparkling wine. (PS. Usually the Royal Blush has cherry in it, but they had just run out… however, the raspberry did not disappoint in the least.)
The Royal Blush is refreshing and is a great way to kickstart the evening.
Next we moved onto some starters.
For a little snack, we chose the almonds with fennel salt. These were baked warm and were chewy with a bit hit of flavor. A nice surprise.
And my Dad was dying to try the meatballs as well, so we ordered up.
These were everything you could want in a meatball and more. Baked in the tomato sauce, these were mouthwateringly good. You’d have thought we had stopped into a little Italian eatery.
After succeeding on polishing off our first dishes, the entrées had arrived.
We each ordered the hanger steak, known for its voluminous flavor.
My Dad ordered his with a side of the béarnaise sauce (not pictured but one of my favorites).
Mine? The hanger steak with a side of the verde salsa please (verde salsa also not pictured, likely because I ate it so quickly)! Anything to sneak a bit of mexican flavor in.
And J, ever the original, ordered the hanger steak with a fried egg on top. And it looked too good to be true.
We also had to fit our greens in for the day, so a side of creamed spinach did the trick. Not the most beautiful to photograph, but not all the delicious dishes can look nice.
After finishing up every last bite, we had to take a bit of an eating break before dessert.
So take in your surroundings.
The Chop Shop is quite the spectacle. Knives adorn the walls as if they’d been thrown into place.
It all adds to the atmosphere.
It’s a quaint little place that definitely crowds up in the evenings. Luckily we were there a bit on the early side so we had the place to ourselves (and a bit of blurry photography).
Okay okay. Enough sight seeing. It’s time for dessert.
My Dad ordered a coffee and opted to share in on this dessert with me…
The Affogato is to die for.
Vanilla gelato, averna amaro and a freshly brewed espresso poured on top.
Essentially it is the type of iced coffee treat that you want, always.
J kept it plain and simple with a brownie sundae. Unfortunately, I had to avoid it because of the peanuts and peanut butter sauce… but he swears it was amazing for all you peanut lovers out there.
And then we were all happily situated in a food coma.
I can’t sing enough praises for Chop Shop.

This was the perfect way to end my last day in London. Of course, I’ll be back eventually. But still, it’s always great to leave on a high note.
Until next time London.

I’ve had mostly expensive and disappointing food in London, but thanks to your excellent reviews I expect to enjoy vastly improved meals out next time I visit.

All it requires is a bit of digging and research before you go. But it’s such fun, and honestly very easy to dine well in London on the cheap. Next time you go let me know where you end up. I’m so happy to hear that my reviews are helpful! X
