In case you haven’t heard (where have you been), I’ve been on the ultimate health kick this January.
I got to a point where I was fed up with my lack of energy, lack of creativity and lack of motivation. So two weeks ago, I made a commitment to myself to change it, to shake the bad habits and get back to being me again.
This week, I’m getting focused with a little help from wagamama.
So what does that mean? For the moment it means changes to my diet and fitness regime. Over the last two weeks, I’ve primarily cut out bread and sugar from my diet. With the exception of a cheeky bite every now and then, I’ve been on the path to success. Depriving yourself from something if you truly crave it doesn’t help you make a change. And I’ve been implementing weekly workouts. Mondays and Wednesdays I’m attending morning fitness classes before work. And Saturdays and Sundays are for running, weights or popping along to a yoga class.
The difference so far? I can already tell! Like I mentioned in my Sunday Coffee post this week, my skinny jeans fit again! And my brain feels like it’s functioning at a higher capacity, my workouts at the gym are improving and I feel good again. Because of this, I’ve decided to ‘track’ my progress through a weekly installment on Kelly Prince Writes, detailing little things I’m loving right now that are helping me stay focused on the goal.
This week: The new ‘Positive’ pressed juice at wagamama
Looks good right? It really was delicious. I’ve found that pressed juices are surprisingly filling these days and it’s an extra opportunity to get good vitamins in.
So here’s the lowdown. wagamama have teamed up with mindfulness expert Michael Townsend Williams to create a mood-boosting juice called ‘Positive’ to help all of us get over the January Blues (and ahem – it’s super good for the whole new year, new me thing I have going on). The new, limited edition positive juice, is a blend of pineapple, apple, lime, spinach and cucumber. It’s made fresh, squeezed, pulped and poured using 100% raw ingredients. Basically, it’s all things I like and are making me happy right now!
I’ve grabbed along the nutritional details of Positive:
- Pineapple – contains a significant amount of serotonin, a chemical messenger that’s believed to act as a mood stabiliser and helps to produce healthy sleeping patterns
- Apple – contains quercetin, an antioxidant that helps to fight stress
- Lime – contains rich amounts of vitamin C that can help fight fatigue and depression
- Spinach – one of the best go-to sources for iron, which helps transport oxygen around the body, leaving you feeling more motivated
- Cucumber – contains vitamin B to maintain energy levels, reducing tiredness and fatigue
After we tried the juices, we obviously had to try some of the menu. It had been such a long time since we visited wagamama’s.
They really serve you up massive portions, so keeping up with my healthy regime, I ate a little bit and then took home the rest for lunch the next day. Good planning I think!
Have you tried any of the wagamama juice collection yet?
