What’s On the Menu?
Stuffing.
This is a recipe that I’ve had passed down to me, a classic that my grandma used to make. It’s also probably one of the easiest recipes around.
What you’ll need:
10 celery stalks
2 small white onions
4 sausages (or vegetarian sausage)
Half a loaf of whole wheat/brown bread
2 eggs
Sage
Salt
Pepper
Let’s get started.
Time to chop up the vegetables.
Celery anyone?
Chop up the onion too… I just didn’t catch a photo of it.
Now cook the sausage. We used Quorn Sausage, opting for a meat free dish so Sara could dig in with the rest of us. Shockingly, this was delicious and you’d never know it was meat free. So even if you are a carnivore – check it out to mix things up once in awhile.
After cooking the sausage, dice it up like the veggies. Then add everything into the pan together and cook on low. Stir the mix until it starts to brown slightly.
In the meantime, grab a large bowl and tear up the bread.
Once the celery, onions and sausage have cooked through, add it to the large bowl of torn bread. And mix it all up together!
Crack two eggs and stir them into the bowl. Sprinkle in the sage, salt and pepper. Also, try to find less questionable ways to store spices.
Now add the stuffing to a baking dish.
Pop it into the oven at 180°C (350°F) and bake for 45 minutes until…
Yum. This is some seriously good stuffing and beyond simple to make.
Now excuse me while I dive into the leftovers…
xx Kelly
