Another very happy Sunday from the United States!
I’ve been home stateside for an entire week now, and I kind of can’t believe how quickly it’s passed. Spending time with family and friends has been a blast as well as eating ALL THE FOOD at our old favorites haunts. And of course, getting into the Christmas spirit.
So grab a cuppa and get settled in to enjoy your weekly Sunday Coffee series from New York.
Here’s the lowdown on the past week, what’s coming soon and what I’m loving right now.
Time for your Sunday Coffee.
1. Christmas Cocktail Party. We landed on a Saturday night and by Sunday evening, we were out with my parents at a Christmas Cocktail Party. Don’t ask how we managed to stay awake for it (fairly certain I was still nursing the Friday night hangover) But we sipped on drinks, danced to Christmas tunes and I was home in bed before 10pm. That’s what I call success.
2. Picking out the Christmas tree. To be honest, I thought that when we’d arrive in the states that we’d be greeted to a winter wonderland. We weren’t. The grass is as green as can be. So when we went to pick out our Christmas tree, the rain was pouring down. Still, we wore our rainboots and picked a winner for our house.
3. Bar Bill for beers and wings. Every time we come home, we absolutely have to make a stop at Bar Bill. It’s our favorite place to get too many wings paired with huge beer mugs.
4. Shopping with my mom. Yep, my mom took the day off and we went shopping at the mall (we’re very American). My mom is seriously one of my best friends, so being able to do silly things like this is actually amazing. Also I haven’t really been shopping since my parents visited England in August. Time for a new wardrobe!
5. SNOW. It finally happened. I’m confident that this is the only snowfall that we’ll have during our trip home, but it’s GLORIOUS.
6. Blonde hair. Being home means I have time to see my incredible hair stylist and friend Sarah. She’s been sorting my hair out for well over 10 years now. So I basically have to say nothing, she knows exactly how I want it to look and then we get to spend our time catching up.
7. Christmas cookies! This is so not a thing in England and it really does need to catch on because there is nothing like Christmas sugar cookie cutouts. I’ll be posting an updated recipe this week!
8. More food. We went out again with our friends Emma and Al for dinner last night at a new place downtown. We truly committed to the adventure. Four starters. Four pizzas. Four incredibly full people. The great thing about the states is you always get a box to take it home for later. Amazing.
That’s a wrap for my first week back at home.
It’s been brilliant and now that I’m officially on holiday (work finished on Friday), I’m ready to relax and spend the next two weeks completely focused on family, friends and having a great time home. It always feels so good to come home, doesn’t it?
And that’s your Sunday Coffee.
