I’m writing this completely intentionally on a Sunday night. Sunday mornings are now made for sleeping in, having coffee and reading a book instead of writing. I’m not sorry about it, my creativity seems to come alive after a glass of wine – and when I’m actually you know, awake.
I feel like I’m always recapping, when I should start posting more in the here and now. It’s a shame that I get tired at around 10pm and need to go to bed, when I know so many bloggers who creatively thrive during the nocturnal hours. If you’re one of them, I envy you greatly. Can you lend me some of your inspiration? Pretty please?
Maybe I’ll start Monday coffee, a recap that I can write on Sunday nights and get up and ready for you guys first thing in the AM. It’s all a work in progress, much like my blog, much like my life.
What even happened last week?
When you’re smashing it at work life
I’m fortunate enough to work in a career (yes, career, not job! Woohoo!) where I’m ultra busy, but really progressing. I’ve been reflecting on when I started a year and six months ago to where I am now.. I’m a better version of myself. More confident, more creative. I know that going into a career isn’t for everyone. Some of us want jobs that give us money, allowing to travel the world or to buy a new home. And that’s OK. Unapologetically, I want it all. I want the career. I want the travel. I want the house. And of course – I want to blog along the way. To make this happen, I think I need to add eighth and ninth days to the week or come across a Time Turner like Hermoine.
Ummm, hello Angel.
Monday morning I was in Angel for a photoshoot. I’m rarely ever in East London unless work functions or a blog invitation. This was for work, and oh my god. My co-worker showed me down the cutest pathway and now I know I need to spend a day there exploring. I’m starting to feel like my London explorations list is getting pretty long.
Views in Greenwich
I always forget how absolutely gorgeous Greenwich is. The views are just perfect. I ventured just a stone’s throw away from Cutty Sark station and across to The Sail Loft, their head chef is formerly from Duck & Waffle and ah, he makes a mean duck. Highly recommended for the views and food. I always leave totally stuffed and happy.
Exploring Notting Hill
Exploring never stops, and there’s this adorable little wine and seafood place that I’ve been dying to try out, called Geale’s. It’s tucked away just around the corner from Notting Hill Gate and I swear I will make it there eventually. But instead we ended up just taking photos near it. My Saturday plans consisted of photoshoots with my friend Grace (deargrace.co.uk) and then visiting the Kensington Wine Rooms in the evening. I’ve never been before, but they were incredible. I highly recommend asking for Michael, although he’s only at that site two days a week.
Attempting to go to Farmacy
Post my last weekend visit to Westbourne Grove, Joe and I decided we’d pop over to Farmacy to grab some brunch. SORELY MISTAKEN. It was absolutely packed and there was a 45 minute waiting list. Since we are not the elite, we popped our names on the list while we decided what to do. Hunger won – we caught the bus home to cook up our own bacon sandwiches and tomato soup. Farmacy does look gorgeous, but like all places on the weekend, it’s impossible to get into the no reservations spots.
Events this week: wine tasting, gin experiences and a restaurant launch
Oh boy, I’m starting to regret quitting the gym because it seems that this week is filled with alcohol and food experiences all around. I’m potentially going along to a Bombay Sapphire experience tomorrow (I spotted the invite in my inbox and only just responded – bad blogger). A wine tasting on Tuesday (basically visiting heaven), and a restaurant launch on Wednesday. I think I need to get back into Snapchat and Instagram stories this week to document it all.
Yes, I foolishly thought that because I wasn’t hosting/working at any events this week for work that it would be slow. Au contraire. There’s plenty on, and we’ll see if I’m even able to make it to them all. It’s going to be a busy one.
I’m hoping to spend a couple of nights working on writing as well. I have posts from July that I’ve bookmarked to write… but I’m thinking that at this point, well, it’s all old news. So here’s to having (hopefully) a few nights in this week to focus on some writing. Because I need to get back into it. Sundays can’t be for days stuck inside writing, they were meant for exploring…
Happy Sunday night and let’s smash it this week!
