Back with a bang baby!
It’s the Sunday Coffee series coming at you (although slightly later in the afternoon than usual because I have a very fun reason).
This week was filled with busy living. I welcome the day that I’m writing saying ‘ah, yes I didn’t do a thing, but thanks for reading’. Except, the day that happens, send someone in to check that everything is OK and to see if I need a pick me up cake and coffee. Until then…
It’s time for your Sunday Coffee…
#FriendsFest
I’m going to admit something that might be a semi unpopular opinion. Should I whisper it? I’m not massively into friends. Do you still like me? Are you sure? I understand that you’ll have to think about it.
Still, when my friend Lauren asked if we all wanted to go to #FriendsFest, well, I love my friends so of course I was in without missing a beat.
We queued in lines to see Monica’s apartment, to take photos with umbrellas and to sit on the sofa in Central Perk. The photos are *almost* worth it, but a day with the chicas was as always, priceless. I also went a bit delirious at one point in a queue, and then ended up deranged with energy. It happened and there’s video evidence of it for another day…
Drinks at the Sky Terrace
I was invited along to visit the brand new Sky Terrace at Asper’s Casino in Westfield Stratford. There was a strong promise of booze and food, so naturally, I was there. I took my friend Grace along for the experience, where we ended up bumping into the always lovely Claire and Katy! Aside from the writing and new experiences, the fantastic thing about blogging is the new people that you meet. I met Katy and Claire ages ago, and genuinely love when we’re all in the same room (or you know, rooftop). The same can be said for so many other bloggers I’ve met. They really are the loveliest crew.
Unlimited Boozy Brunch at the Big Easy
Nothing hooks me in quite like the allure of a boozy brunch. Londoners flock to their favourite weekend destinations for their beloved avocado and toast (hello, me too). Although lately there’s been an uprise in the ditching of breakfast and just going straight for lunch/dinner dishes with the added bonus of boozy anything. I think adding unlimited booze to brunch sounds a teeny bit better than dinner. It’s the excuse we’re all looking for to get tipsy in the afternoon, so let’s roll with it. This weekend, we popped into the Big Easy to check out their brunch and spoiler alert – it’s massive. Go on an empty stomach, leave feeling like you’ve eaten more than your body weight.
Happy Birthdays!
This week we celebrated Joe’s birthday with all things beer and BBQ. We started the day off with cupcakes and ended it at Bodeans for BBQ on Friday night. Followed the next day by the Big Easy brunch and then later, a surprise party at Dinerama for Joe with our friends and family all there waiting when we arrived. The weekend was essentially one big London BBQ fest and honestly it couldn’t have been more fun. I have to say I’m delighted to no longer be keeping the secret of his party from him. I think I nearly slipped up daily!
Sunday brunching
Naturally, with our late night antics on Saturday night, we needed a lie in and a little R&R this morning. After waking up and watching Made in Chelsea with our friends who stayed at our flat for the night before driving back down to Southampton, we went to my favourite breakfast spot in Kensington, Café Phillies. The food is fantastic and the service great. Best way to start the day without a doubt.
And one more thing…
I added a photo to Instagram today that I think really defines what I’ve been feeling lately. Here’s what I said:
“Three weeks ago I made the decision to stop messing around and make a commitment to better health. Since then, I’ve been running almost daily and putting in serious time to reshape my body. It sounds like such a silly thing, but I’m so happy about making these small changes. I’m feeling more confident in my clothes (not to mention, they fit MUCH better ), I’m in a better mood, I’m sleeping better and my skin looks brighter. This week, I got a spray tan to celebrate. And today I threw on mascara and a dress and felt good to go. Little wins are the best you guys.”
That’s all I have time for with today’s Sunday Coffee. I need a nap, I need a coffee and I need to rest before this week starts all over again!
Happy Sunday!
