Happy Sunday from the US of A!
That’s right! After nine months away from home, I’m finally back. All it took was a crazy long day of travel yesterday, but we’ve made it safe and sound back to upstate New York!
I am so excited to be spending the next few weeks at home. I have so much to do, and I know it’s going to absolutely fly by, so it’s time for me to make the most of it.
Grab a cuppa and get settled in to enjoy your weekly Sunday Coffee series all the way from America!
Here’s the lowdown on the past week, what’s coming soon and what I’m loving right now.
Time for your Sunday Coffee.
1. Last week we started by celebrating Christmas with Joe’s family. We got to see all of our close family and friends in England, which was amazing before us going away for the next few weeks. It was such a great way to start our last week in the UK.
2. Late night dinner and wine at Harry Gordon’s Wine Bar in Selfridges! I’d been complaining that we hadn’t done many Christmassy activities since we’d both been so busy. So on Thursday night, Joe had planned on us going to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. Until the rain. So, what’s Christmassy AND inside? Selfridges. We popped into Harry Gordon’s Wine Bar for a bottle of white wine and nibbles. Of course, we might have browsed through the entire Christmas section too.
3. Speaking of Selfridges. GORGEOUS at the holidays!
4. Tis the season for Christmas parties… Because I was going to be flying out this weekend, my amazing boss arranged for us to celebrate with our Christmas party on Friday night. We started the day with The Breakfast Club takeaway and Prosecco at 9am. Followed by an early finish and ALL THE CHAMPAGNE.
5. And work Christmas dinner at Sushi Samba. I’ve never been for dinner and I have to say, I’m basically in love with it. I can’t wait to go back and take Joe.
6. However, a lesson for everyone. Christmas parties and being out extremely late partying with MORE champagne at The May Fair Hotel means that you will inevitably not pack your bag for America and in my case, rely on Joe to pack my entire suitcase at 1am for the next two weeks. (I still haven’t looked at what I’ll be wearing for the next three weeks).
7. Flights to America. The somewhat insane logic behind flying with a hangover is that it kind of eliminates your fear of flying, because you now fear how you’re going to stay put and hydrated for 8 and a half hours.
8. Nothing cures a hangover like pizza. We landed in Washington D.C. and because I booked our flights with a six hour layover, my aunt Katy who lives near the airport came to pick us up. She brought me a very large cup of black coffee from Starbucks, which is where I began my road to recovery. We got to go chill out at her house, change our clothes, play with her three adorable dogs and then go meet up with my uncle Tim for a late lunch of pizza and beers. If you’re ever stuck with a long layover, try and do it in a place where you can meet up with family and friends, we definitely recommend it!
9. How to Get Away with Murder. Is anyone else watching? I’m absolutely addicted! And now that I’m stateside I fully plan on catching up on all the episodes that haven’t made it to the UK yet. (Sorry guys).
10. Waking up at home. Seriously, the may be one of the BEST feelings. I love living in London, but I am ecstatic to be here for the next few weeks.
And that’s the latest on my life! I’m finally going to have a bit of down time to catch up on blogging, spend time with family, go shopping and to truly relax. It’s been a good couple of months since my last holiday and I’m so ready to indulge and enjoy it.
And that’s your Sunday Coffee update.
