It is fair to say that if you are not a lover of brunch, we cannot be friends. That’s a bold lie, you just won’t be invited to partake in early afternoon dining. After what has seemed like months of tip toeing around this brunch hot spot, we finally committed ourselves and queued up at The Breakfast Club.
A quaint little spot in Soho, you could almost miss it if you weren’t on the lookout.
Getting there at 12:15PM on a Wednesday apparently does not make a difference. The queue is out the door and halfway across the street. But the charming wait staff comes out and tells us it’ll be 15-20 minutes. We’ve got time.
Plus the hungry looking chaps at the front of the line were inclined to tell me, it’s worth the wait! And it was.
Nearing 1PM, we finally settled down at a table in the back. The Breakfast Club is not the largest establishment. But it’s cozy and makes you feel right at home.
We immediately grabbed our server and requested coffees.
It was nearing 1PM and I’d only had one cup that morning. I was barely a human. Our coffees were quickly brought over, a cappuccino for Joe and a strong black coffee for me.
Cappuccino will always look more glamourous. But as a serious coffee fiend, I stick with the classics…
Still looking a bit worse for wear, but feeling better already.
In the meantime, we placed our orders.
I rarely pass up the opportunity to eat anything containing avocado, so I ordered up the Avocado and Poached Egg with fresh chillies and lime on toasted multigrain bloomer bread. At Joe’s insistence I added crispy bacon on top.
And within no time, our dishes had arrived. Seriously, props to The Breakfast Club for great customer service and very speedy culinary skills. Take a look at this beauty.
It’s a messy, fantastic dish and I gobbled the whole thing up (well, mostly).
Joe ordered a generous helping of the Bacon and Banana French Toast.
From what it looks like, he ordered dessert instead of breakfast.
We tucked in, barely speaking as we couldn’t stop feasting on our brunch treats.
Sometimes, when food is so good, you literally sit in silence enjoying it. Anyone else ever do this, or just me? Eventually we finished dining and sat back to relax and enjoy the rest of our coffees and the atmosphere.
The Breakfast Club is certainly a place I’d recommend to anyone looking for brunch in London. I can’t wait to go back already.
By the way, if you’re quite keen to try it out but want to avoid massive queues, I’d suggest heading there on a weekday. It is a madhouse at the weekend.
There are also several Breakfast Club locations around London. Soho is the original and the others are in Angel, Hoxton, Spitalfields, and Battersea Rise (an additional location is coming soon to London Bridge).
Who else is a massive lover of breakfast and brunch? Anyone ever been to The Breakfast Club?
xx Kelly

LOVE Breakfast Club! I can’t believe you still have to Q on a Wednesday! I’ve only ever been on a weekend and would have thought it’d be easier to get in during the week! The first time I ever went was to the one in Angel and the Q was about 45 minutes long but they brought us out hot chocolates 😀 It is so worth the wait though, I love how huge the menu is x

You are so lucky they brought you hot chocolate! Now that would have been the icing on the cake. But truly, I could rave about TBC all day long. We had some people pass by and say there was always a long line there, every single day of the week. So I’m guessing that it’s always packed! xo

Umm…that food looks amaze-balls. I need to fly across the pond specifically for this restaurant. That French toast??? I’m foaming at the mouth. Thinking I’m gonna make breakfast for dinner. Yup, that’s for certain.

Breakfast for dinner is my favorite! I hope you made French Toast! And PS. This place is totally worth the trip and the possible jet lag of an international flight 🙂 xo
