When you think of champagne…images of grandeur come to mind.
Hotdogs? Not so much. But that’s exactly the combination that Bubbledogs, the newest place to be in London, has paired. They’re mixing elegance and street food and I couldn’t possibly love it more.
Stepping into Bubbledogs, you’re immediately surrounded by gorgeous wooden panelling and brick layered walls.
And adorning these walls are framed drawings of whimsical dogs…which are brilliant. I absolutely loved them. You’ll see soon enough.
We took a seat at a high table with barstools. It’s a quaint hipsteresque type of place. Truth be told, the last item you would think they’d have on the menu is a hotdog.
But before going to the dogs, let’s chat champagne!
We decided to each get just a glass… it was only 12PM after all.
It had definitely been a long morning so I was more than happy with this little indulgence.
And we had quite a bit to celebrate, so it was only appropriate for a quick toast. Cheers!
Champagne and hotdogs is certainly a unique combination.
The typical American way, is a cold beer and a hotdog (and usually a sporting event). But as this was a special occasion, I couldn’t wait to test out this culinary pairing.
So take a look at the Bubbledogs menu…
We were a bit boring and each ordered the Naked dog.
Sometimes it’s all about simplicity. (But don’t get me wrong, I’ll be back to try out the Mac Daddy.)
Our orders were placed and barely any time had passed before they were serving up our dogs.
As per the menu, you have a choice of what type of dog you can order: pork, beef or veggie.
We asked our server which was the best option. He assured us, after hearing my accent, that the classic American hotdog is beef. I’m certainly no expert, so we took his advice and went for the beef dogs.
I don’t regret it. These were very tasty. I kept mine plain while Joe loaded up on ketchup.
My only recommendation for Bubbledogs is to upgrade the hotdog bun situation.
I think they could have easily accompanied the hotdog with a grainier artisan bread. But that’s only because I’m not a big white bread fan.
I certainly didn’t give it too much thought though, I’m definitely a new fan of this restaurant.
P.S. Here’s a shot of the napkin holder on our table…
I would highly recommend Bubbledogs to anyone looking for a truly unique place to grab a bite to eat.
The dogs were delicious, and pairing street food with champagne may just be my new favorite thing.
Now if only I can get this trend to catch on in these states…
xx Kelly

Hey lovely, my opinion on Bubbledogs was fairly similar to yours though I think I was slightly less keen. Check out my review: http://www.silverspoonlondon.co.uk/2014/03/Review-of-Bubbledogs.html.
I’d rather enjoy good champagne with good food to be honest. Although I like the concept I don’t think it quite works.
Lots of love,
Angie

Oh I do love when we all end up trying out the same places in London. 🙂 I was pretty happy with my experience at Bubbledogs. I loved the champagne and I think it was kind of a fun one off, pairing it with hotdogs. Definitely not the place for a fancy date night, but for a low key lunch? Sure!
I fully agree with you on the roll situation though… they should step that up.
PS. I’m glad you snagged some photos of the little dog drawings. I did love those!
