2016 is the year of adulting.
The term is frequently overused on social media and in articles from our favourite millennial newsy sites. Yes, I’m tossing out the ‘m’ word here. But hey, I’m here to say it… Adulting isn’t really that hard. It’s kind of just what you do. You know, when you elevate your wardrobe to staple pieces, when you start looking at kitcheny goods. When your Christmas wishlist is less latest handbag and more that bangin’ KitchenAid appliance and not being the least bit sorry about it.
One of the steps that Joe and I are finally taking into adulthood, you know, aside from that whole life commitment to each other thing, is updating our home decor. We’re going from poor university student furniture to pieces that we can *gasp* actually grow with and keep for when we eventually move into a house someday.
It’s very adult, I know.
We’ve purchased a couple of these things on the list, and we’re aiming to actually achieve them all on the list. I know, it takes time and saving, but doesn’t it feel good to surround yourself with a cosy environment? It’s a bit a materialistic, but what you surround yourself can absolutely make the difference on your entire mood.
It’s time for an update!
Here are the 10 Home Inspiration Goods to update your living space…
1. New dining chairs! No more boring chairs. Pick up something with a bit of personality!
2. Wooden tables. Hey, if you can’t spring for a marble table (who can?) splurge on a nice wooden table. We’re aiming to buy this since we got ride of our old kitchen table. Time for an upgrade.
3. Armchairs. I really enjoy having a chair with arms on it. Isn’t it nice? I love the look of both of these in the collection. One’s for being comfy, and one’s for adding something more styled to your home look.
4. Drinks trolleys. We bought the round one that we foolishly thought could double as a kitchen table. It doesn’t. So, we’re going to repurpose it for all our alcoholic needs instead. I adore the rectangular one too, but we didn’t have room for it in the flat. If you can, get it!
5. Ottoman. We grabbed this when it was on sale at Oliver Bonas. But it’s well worth a purchase. It doubles as storage and seating. And we’re all short on space in London, so it’s a great way to double up. Plus it’s cute.
6. Drawers. We need to get a new unit for under our TV. Something quirky to hold the box as well as all the random things that we somehow acquire. So much for my minimalist goals for 2016, am I right?
7. Vases. I’m obsessed with anything Kate Spade. From their handbags to their home decor designs. I cannot get enough.
8. Lamps. Have you ever realised how dark it is living in the UK? Yes, you probably have. It’s very dark. Brighten your life with pretty lamps.
9. Rugs. We have wooden floors in our living space, which can get cold fast. Our current rug is a bit past its expiration date, and I love the look of both this dainty designed rug and the more modern striped one. Still need to pick between the two…
10. Coffee tables. You need one. End of.
