I am an avid advocate of brunch. Best enjoyed with a little bit of booze on the weekend, and hopefully not too far of a crawl out from under the duvet away from home. This is good for lazy weekenders, who might be nursing a tiny bit of a hangover. Hair of the dog and all that.
The thing about accidental brunch is… well, it’s an accident.
You’re not planning on brunching.
We popped over to Dirty Bones in Kensington on a blustery Saturday afternoon to try their Dirty Feast, a Thanksgiving special. However, with a slight mix up, they weren’t serving the feast until after 6pm. Not everywhere in London would be so accommodating, but Dirty Bones fully have your back. The incredibly lovely Anna said to us, you’re here, have brunch and come back tomorrow night for dinner.
Like I would have ever said no to extra eating.
So we switched our focus and our attention to brunch. (Poor us, right?)
I ordered a Dirty Mary to start, a spicy delicious concoction that will sort out any hangover you might have lingering.
Or it’ll get you started on your weekend boozing.
My lovely date however felt like dessert was the best way to start and ordered a chocolate Oreo milkshake called the Shadow.
I have VERY good things to say about this. Sweet but not too sweet. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a milkshake. I highly recommend this. But ahem, if you’re in for brunch, totally go for the Dirty Mary.
We finally decided on our orders, for Joe a hearty helping of the steak and eggs.
And for me? Avocado, poached eggs and toast. What else did you expect?
An accidental brunch feast for sure.
The brunch menu at Kensington’s Dirty Bones was absolutely AMAZING.
I know we accidentally tried it, but it was out of this world good, so I had to share. I’d never been into Dirty Bones prior to this, although it’s one of those places that I kept meaning to go into. We’d typically run past it and go, yes we need to go in there, it looks like our kind of place.
And well, for that weekend, we truly started making good on our promise.
Can’t wait to share all the foodie glory of the Dirty Feast too! Stay tuned!
Kelly xoxo
