My favourite secret library you have to see in Dub

My favourite secret library you have to see in Dublin? 📖📚✨

This is absolutely a must for my fellow literary travellers! Not quite a secret per se, but definitely one that I think gets missed! Built by Archbishop Narcissus (great name) Marsh, this was the first public library in Ireland. It’s also one of the few buildings left from the 18th century in Dublin that continues serving it’s original purpose.

It’s STILL a library after all! 📖

And the books you see on display are in the spots that were allocated to them back by Marsh and Elias Bouhéreau, the first librarian of Marsh’s Library.

It’s such an incredible library to visit and surprisingly not very busy either, so you can take plenty of time having a good snoop of all the nooks and corners!

We finally made it to the original Pemberley!! Welcome to Lyme Park! Fans of the BBC Pride and Prejudice will know this location as Mr. Darcy’s home and gosh what a beautiful home it is.

Lyme Park has been on my list for a verrrrrrry long time. Only 45 minutes outside of Manchester, on the edge of the Peak District, sits this grand estate.

Having only been to Chatsworth House (Pemberley 2.0, if you will) in the Peaks, we were so pleasantly surprised by Lyme Park. The grand homes felt super similar to us actually, which makes sense as they aren’t that far apart (only a 45 minute drive). Both of course, stunningly beautiful. And Lyme Park is super full of interesting history too! More on that next time!

Regretfully, I did not make Joe dress up as Mr Darcy here, so we’ll need to go back again soon!

I LOVED dressing up this year! I’ve actually never worn proper regency era attire before… this was so much fun! I wish we’d taken more actual photos of the Grand Regency Promenade, but it proved quite hard to when walking in the parade! Videos however? Plenty incoming!

Also, is it just me or does Joe 100% suit the regency era?! 😍😍😍

Step into regency England for the Grand Regency Costumed Promenade! From now until the 20th of September, the literary city of Bath turns back time for the Jane Austen Festival! 📖🫖☕️🇬🇧📚

This is our first year attending dressing up for the Grand Regency Promenade! I love our costumes so much and it was so much fun getting to participate in the parade! 🥰

Autumnal magic in the Lake District 🍁🍂🏰

Welcome to @haweswaterhotel, an absolutely stunning Art Deco hotel along the Haweswater Reservoir in Penrith. It’s actually the only building in 100 square miles of the nature reserve, so it feels super secluded and relaxing staying here. We LOVED it!

🍁 Spend a night in the Mardale Suite overlooking the lake, this was especially dreamy in the autumn during our stay! 🍂
🛏️ Rooms start from around £120 per night depending on the room
💦 Or if you’re travelling as a group, book the Aquila, the private Lake House on the property, we spent one night here and it was sooooo relaxing! With the moody weather during our stay, it also felt very like the Pacific Northwest, so we HAD to watch Twilight, of course!
🍷 Order a drink and cosy up playing some of the board games in the lounges with fireplaces, it’s such a dreamy space
🍽️ Book dinner in The Haweswater, we had an amazing meal here! PS you can also pop in for lunch or dinner even if you aren’t staying at the hotel.
🍂 Go for a walk around the nature reserve, it’s simply stunning! We are a bit on the lazy side, so drove and parked up for a very short walk, but you won’t want to miss out on these epic views!

Trying on our costumes for the Jane Austen festival! I’ve never been a super huge fan of regency style women’s dresses, the shaping is just not quite right for my body type… but I feel like this one is pretty cute!

Regency men’s style however? 🥵🥵🥵

Also, I know Joe’s outfit would look so much better with black knee boots but alas!
