New Year’s Eve finally rolled around.
Or should I say SKATED.
My mom and I might possibly be linked on the same brain wave because before my parents came over to London she stated that she thought we should go ice skating. Well, that’s lovely because I was thinking exactly the same.
After comtemplating where to go, we decided to stay local and head to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington. The Natural History Museum is one of my favorite buildings, so we thought it would be especially fun for my mom to see it (we took my dad inside on a prior trip he took over).
It’s visually stunning. I could explore it all day. Unfortunately, lines were incredbily long and if we queued up we might miss our skating time.
But that’s okay, because there’s always next time! We took another look at this beauty of architecture before moving towards the ice rink.
I love that they put up the merry-go-round for kids during the holidays. The lights always look so festive.
The rink was packed!
We booked our tickets for the following hour of skating, so we had some time to kill. Cue the bar above the rink and a round of hot chocolate for everyone!
And some festive decor…
I loved the ski vacation vibes that the bar gave off. I wish I’d taken some more photos, but I must have been distracted by all my skating excitement.
Soon our time had come. We bid adieu to J’s parents who were joining us for the evening as well and went down with mine to skate for the next hour.
It had been awhile since any of us had been on the ice…
Everyone was zipping around, laughing with friends and family… or holding on for dear life. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t the least bit nervous to get out there!
Calmed the nerves with selfie taking.
Then… they cleared the ice.
And it was go time!
I was a little shaky to start, but J got well into it.
After nearly an hour of skating, we had to clear the ice. I sort of can’t believe we staye on the ice that long, but we had such a fun time!
Before we left, we made sure to grab our free reindeer chocolate. A nice touch to end and refuel from our hour long skate workout.
It kind of looks like what could be Easter chocolate prep… but let’s not worry about that. After all, it’s New Year’s Eve!
How did you spend your New Year’s Eve day?

I used to love ice skating! It looks so fun too, I love it when people just get involved even though they know there is a 90% chance they will fall over! Although saying that I fell over doing it once and broke my wrist haha, enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂

It was so much fun! But yes, I feared falling in a major way! And yikes! Now I know the injury risk is oh so real! Eek! I hope it wasn’t such a bad break when it happened 🙁 xox

I think this is probably one of the best winter things to do in London, lovely vibe and a bit of a workout too before those chocs!

The exact same thing happened to me when I went. I was really nervous but when I got on there I had amazing fun and the hour just flew by.
Lots of love,

It goes by so quickly doesn’t it? It’s like riding a bike, you get used to it after a little while and after the hour, you’re a natural! xox

Oh, it looks beautiful! I’ve said I’ll go skating for the past couple of years and somehow Christmas rolls around and I still haven’t organised it!
2015 is the year for sure. Now I just have to wait for the next set of festivities.
