Welcome to Manchester! Manchester is one of my favourite cities in northwest England to pay a visit to. It’s not often that we get to travel up this way, so I always consider it such a treat when we get to spend time in this beautiful city.
Home to many of my favourite UK libraries, incredible eateries and super cool bars, the Manchester scene is perfect for a weekend getaway to indulge, relax and take in the sights.
Now where to stay in Manchester? The Hotel Gotham, of course!
The Hotel Gotham located on King Street in Manchester is without a doubt one of the best hotels in Manchester that you can choose to stay at in the city.
The aesthetic of the hotel features grand 1920s New York Gatsby speakeasy vibes, lots of Art Deco rich colours of golds, teals and black, and the architecture is a DREAM. It actually used to be a Midland Bank, so you can really see the grand old bank building features within.
Let’s take a peek, shall we?
Staying at The Gotham ⤵️
✨ Book the Gotham Suite
If you can, I’d recommend splurging a little to stay in one of the Gotham Suites. The style is gorgeous, retaining the hotel’s art deco style mixed with modern luxuries and of course, pockets of subtle vintage touches within the decor. It was such a treat to spend a little overnight here.
The suites each have sitting rooms which are so perfect for those looking to relax a bit in the room too. Not to mention, the beautiful views of the city as an added bonus.
🍽 Dinner at Honey Restaurant
Don’t forget to book a dinner reservation at Honey Restaurant. The 2 AA Rosette awarded restaurant at Hotel Gotham has a delicious menu. We chose to enjoy their set menu with a bottle of wine white. The ambiance sets the mood with low lighting and a sultry atmosphere.
The design of the restaurant continues to align so well with the Hotel Gotham with the 1920s NYC vibes, I LOVED it. PS definitely ask for a table next to one of their grand windows to peek out at the city below while you enjoy your meal.
🥂 Head up to Club Brass for rooftop cocktails
On the 7th floor of the Hotel Gotham you’ll find Club Brass. The sprawling rooftop bar actually features THREE outdoor terraces to choose from. Each one is a little different to the next and offer completely different views of the city. It’s open to VIP members and guests only… so you’ll have to book in to have a peek!
🍳 Treat yourself to an indulgent breakfast in the morning
OK breakfast in bed is completely tempting and if we stay again, I’m going to have to try that out next. We did at least have coffees in bed – thank goodness for excellent in room coffee machines!
But if you’re not going the breakfast in bed route at the Hotel Gotham, I’d really recommend popping back to Honey Restaurant for their brilliant breakfast spread. Again, window seats are an absolute must here!
Other hotel highlights include Honey Restaurant’s Afternoon Tea, we’d filled up so much on breakfast, we couldn’t possibly this time around though.
Also they have their very own speakeasy bar downstairs called GILT. You enter through a mirrored door that you’d never know existed. They typically use the space rented out for big venues or parties*, but it’s definitely worth poking your head down if you’re staying.
*Actually I just checked and they host events you can buy tickets too! They have a swing band, called The Not Quite Big Band that do regular appearances and you can book in to go see them. A totally fun night out for guests and even Manchester locals to pop in for.
Don’t forget to explore more of Manchester too. There’s so much to see! I’m a library lover, so John Rylands Library, Portico Library and Chetham’s Library are my essentials. Stay tuned for more posts on those! 📚
Would you stay at the Hotel Gotham?
