Wow. It’s been nearly a MONTH since my last Sunday Coffee post.
I took a little break from writing the series over the holidays. I was busy visiting family and friends in the states and I fully allowed myself a mini break from feeling obligated to the blogging world.
But now it’s 2016 and I’M BACK.
So grab a cuppa and get settled in to enjoy your (back to) weekly Sunday Coffee series from back in London.
Here’s the lowdown on the past week, what’s coming soon and what I’m loving right now.
Time for your Sunday Coffee.
1. Goals, goals, goals. Yes, a new year means I’m all about the goals. I like the word goal, because it’s an achievement to live up to. Resolutions are broken so easily. If my goals were resolutions, I’d already have wrecked mine this year. So far, I have yet to get my workout on. My motivation however, is strong and I’m ready to start tackling the challenges I’ve set myself. You can find more about them here…
2. Jet lag is the enemy. After a series of delays, we ended up flying back to London last Sunday. I am not the type of person who adjusts well to time zones. You’d think with all the travel, I’d be used to the sensation. I’m not. Luckily I was able to take off on Monday to adjust, but when my alarm went off at 6:15am the rest of the week for work? I did not enjoy it.
3. The flight back. Speaking of our travels, I’m delighted to tell you all that this was possibly my best flight across the Atlantic yet. If you’re a regular reader or know me well, you know that I hate flying. If I could drive across the Atlantic, I would. It’s ironic that I want to travel the world. Regardless, this was my best flight yet! I slept most of the six hours to London and there were barely any bumps along the way.
4. As a bonus to my happiness of flying, we experienced stunning views of our former home, New York City. It’s so difficult every time we fly through NYC because I want to leave the airport and go visit my friends and old favourite spots.
5. The easyJet sale is ON. Flights are now 20% off for the next three days, so I’d recommend looking ASAP to book your European adventures. Joe’s been trying to get me to Portugal for FIVE years now. So I think this may be our year of travelling.
6. Borough Market love. My office has recently relocated to the London Bridge area for the month while we’re looking for a more permanent space. And oh my god. I am in love. It’s going to be difficult to leave and go somewhere else come February because my lunches are filled with the most delicious foods and sites.
7. Snow. Hey London crew, did you know it’s meant to snow this week?! I’m so excited and I’m hoping that we somehow get as much snow as I did when I was home in Buffalo (wishful thinking, I know).
8. Home decor time. Joe and I are finally committing to the fact that we love our flat in London and we want it to look slightly less like a temporary living space. It’s the first place we’ve been living in for more than a year and it’s time to make it into a home. We’re looking for home decor ideas and I’m obsessed with Pinterest.
9. London sites are the best, aren’t they? This was Sloane Square on Saturday night.
10. It’s good to be home. I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling this. I love going ‘home’ to Buffalo and being with my family. But at this point in our lives… home is actually somewhere new. For the past year and a half, London has been home and it really feels like it. Landing at Heathrow, catching the tube back in and finally catching a cab from the station back to our flat (we were NOT carrying the bags that far)… and riding in the cab back to our flat, I had all the feels. It’s home.
And that’s your Sunday Coffee.

Seeing NYC from that high and at night is awesome. I’ve never seen it like that before. Really makes me want to go back one day and just enjoy the city.
BTW, I understand what you mean about being home. It’s nice to go back and see my parents but being at my HOME feels so right.

You definitely should go to Portugal! I looooved Porto last year and Lisbon the year before. Both awesome. I’m the same with flying, hate it with a passion but I am getting better! No more tears!
