October 1st.
The beginning of a new month, the promising start of autumn.
And the start to an incredible new life.
I have good news. Not good, GREAT news.
And this news is symbolic and synonymous with October 5th. In five days, I’m taking a few packed bags and moving over to England.
Yes, really.
I wrote about a week ago detailing that we finally received paperwork allowing us to move to the United Kingdom. And now it’s official, we have our move date.
October 5th.
This date has me delighted, nervous, anxious, excited… let’s surmise it, I have a lot of emotions about the move. I can’t help it. I’m picking up my life again. When I met J back at university well over three years ago, I never dreamed that we’d be on the crazy adventure together. From university, to NYC, Edinburgh to south of London, back to the states… and now? London for the foreseeable future.
It’s more packing up and moving than many will see in their lifetime, so I count myself very lucky.
Late in the evening on October 5th, we are catching a direct flight to London. We’ll land the next morning and from there, we’ll embark on this experience, this journey, together.
I can’t wait to sink my teeth into London properly. To find a flat that we can call our home. Dine at great hidden restaurants and pop ups. And stumble home along the tube after a rowdy night filled with good drinks and good friends. And I can’t wait to find a full time job scratch that, a career.
I’m finally getting the chance to build up a life for myself.
A little secret?
I’ve never held a full-time salary job.
But before you shake your head in disbelief, I’ve had a plethora of life changes in the last three years. Graduating with my Bachelor’s degree, continuing on to get my Master’s, I’ve gotten married. And now? It’s time for me. Time to work in a field that I’ve always wanted to join.
It’s time for my hard work to start paying off and to score an amazing career.
And now that we’re going to be staying permanently in London, I don’t have to worry about us picking up and moving our home anytime soon. I get to completely immerse myself into London living.
I have the opportunity to meet new people and the ability to travel to see my friends across the UK.
I have the opportunity to travel throughout Europe on weekends, seeing new places and learning about new cultures… at a much more affordable price than if I was flying across from America.
I have this amazing opportunity to make my dreams come true.
The importance of October 5th.
Stability filled with endless possibilities and adventure.
I can’t wait.
