Happy Belated Valentine’s Day my amazing readers!
No matter your relationship status, I hope you all enjoyed celebrating this weekend. Whether it be with your significant other, your family and friends, or by yourself with a bottle of wine and a marathon session of Netflix.
Isn’t it nice to appreciate those in your life that you care about?
My little advice for next year to make the most of Valentine’s: Give your parents and siblings cards. Call up your grandma. They’ll feel extra appreciated and doing good things makes you happier. It’s a fact (surely there’s a study out there to verify this).
So, I want to fill you all in on my Valentine’s. Not to brag, but simply to give a few ideas to my fellow long distance relationshipers out there. Even at 3,500 miles apart, you can keep your love life exciting.
Thursday when I arrived home from work, a big box of flowers greeted me at the door. Roses… gorgeous! (A day early, because J thought Valentine’s was Thursday. This was both funny and sweet and makes me love him more.)
The following day, waking up on Valentine’s, I was assuming I’d be having wine/chocolate alone in my sweats later. By the way, this is a usual good night of mine anyways.
Well, surprise to me. J sent me The Great Gatsby film. Great gift, right? The extra surprise was that he also bought one for himself. So late afternoon US time/UK nighttime, we synchronized the films to run at the same time (or close enough) and watched Gatsby on Skype.
How romantic is that? I really couldn’t have been happier with that relaxed Valentine’s plan. And that we (kind of) spent together. Last year J cooked a nice dinner in. And the year before was long distance again. So, it was nice to have our little movie date.
Oh, and I shouldn’t forget to mention the tastiest part of my weekend. Due to storms (obviously storms have been affecting anything shipped to me since I’ve relocated to New York) my last Valentine’s gift arrived Saturday.
An elegant parcel filled with very fancy chocolate covered strawberries. I immediately ate two and if you think they’re lasting me until Monday, you’d be insane.
That’s my Valentine’s Day weekend rewind. I hope everyone else out there had the exact weekend of your choice, whether it was staying in, or going out, single or coupled up… it’s always good to celebrate little things. So what were your Valentine’s Day or weekend plans?
Now go out there and get yourself some half priced chocolates.
xx Kelly
PS. I sent J a giant box a few weeks ago (to be opened February 14) and filled it with Valentine’s day candies, chocolates and a couple of photos with our engagement pictures. It went over well. I think the giant M&M bag is already gone…
PPS. An extra Happy Valentine’s Day and weekend to everyone reading. You all have no idea how much I appreciate the support and positivity that this blog and all of you bring into my life. So thank you! xoxo

It’s so tempting to buy all of the chocolates. I somehow resisted… but it was difficult. Such a weakness. PS. Love that the Dollar Store was half off… was that really necessary? 🙂 xo
