I have steadily become the definition of ‘basic’. And I’m okay with that.
Brunch, avocados, flatlays, sunglasses, taking 1000 photos of my food before I eat it. Kind of basic blogger status. I’m really okay with that. And I’m even more okay with it because I’m constantly revisiting the same place.
I think they might have started to recognize me when I go in. Just maybe.
Introducing Café Phillies, which is one of our favourite local brunch spots. They serve up an all day breakfast and it makes me all kinds of happy.
It’s a cute little spot, located just off of High Street Kensington. With a small outdoor space – these are the tables that you want during the warmer months. On a slightly cooler day towards the end of April, we braved the elements and perched ourselves outside. Accompanied by their heaters, we were in a good spot.
An Americano for me. A flat white for Joe. I love finding comfort in knowing you have a local where you always have a great experience. There’s quality food, a relaxed atmosphere, it’s without a doubt one of our go-to spots.
Post a probable weekend hangover, I ordered the Scrambled Eggs, Smoked Salmon and Sourdough toast with smashed avocado. It’s really guacamole though, which is even better.
Joe went a bit simpler and ordered a Bacon Butty.
Also, LOOK AT THE AVO.
While I’m writing this and I’m hungry again.
If you’re looking for somewhere in Kensington to get your brunch and breakfast on, Café Phillies is a must add to your list. From their all day breakfast menu, they also serve sandwiches and lunch options. I’m a particular fan of their Halloumi Salad while Joe loves the Croque Monsieur.
Most of all, in addition to being an excellent breakfast spot, they duo as a wine bar. I don’t actually think I could combine all of my favourite things into one, but there you go. Breakfast by day, wine bar… all the time.
Does it get better than that? Because I certainly don’t think so.

Hi there. I am going to create a Virtual Tour for Café Phillies tomorrow evening after closure. I had a thought about a possible collaboation, could you get in touch?
