Selfridges.
One of my absolute favorite stores in London is currently home to an excellent pop up spot. Q-Grill have taken over the fifth floor of Selfridges with Le Chalet, a take on a “winter alpine skiing lodge.”
Getting up to the fifth floor is similar to trying to get the ski lifts up the mountain. You have to find just the right elevator to make your way to the restaurant. Once you find it, you walk into a wintery wonderland. Fairy lights greet you immediately as you step out onto the fifth floor. I was running late… so I failed to snap a photo.
I met up with three of my girlfriends in London for a mid week dinner out. An evening filled with wine, good food and great friends.
It’s a cozy little restaurant that overlooks the beautiful city of London. You feel nostalgic for an actual ski lodge, but in central London, Le Chalet makes the cut as a contender.
The menu has plenty to offer, providing warming comfort foods to get you through the winter season.
We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc for the table to kick things off.
The atmosphere around the restaurant is lively, friends on a night out, couples dining together, families gathered around.
Want to see what we tucked into?
A classic burger.
Buttermilk chicken schnitzel with blue cheese fondue.
And the beautiful wild mushroom risotto, which I thoroughly enjoyed… eating every last little bite.
The risotto was so so sooo good. It was creamy and decadent but still managed to feel like you were eating somewhat healthy. Everyone else said their meals were excellent as well. I didn’t taste test theirs, but we’ll take their word for it shall we?
I forgot to mention the fries! We all sort of split these. Amazing. Order them with whatever you get. Mmmm.
A few of us had room for dessert. Chocolate ice cream…
And a selection of fruity sorbets…
In fairness, I did eat the wafer, so that was my after dinner treat.
Well worth a trip up to the evasive Selfridges’ Fifth Floor. We left Le Chalet filled with amazing food and great memories.
Not bad for a Thursday night, am I right?
