Quietly tucked away in Switzerland and only a ten minute drive to one of the many French borders, we found that Geneva is primarily French speaking with a mix of a little Italian thrown in.
And trying to be as authentic as possible, a tiny Swiss-Italian restaurant caught our attention. Any excuse for pizza right?
As we stepped through the door and past the set of curtains (keeping out the cold Swiss air), we were greeted immediately by a wild array of languages along with the delicious smell of oven baked Italian cuisine.
Our waiter strolled over and we ordered wine and pizza to share in broken French. Ridiculous, as they spoke Italian.
Regardless, despite looking a bit on the tired side, after some food and drink we were feeling more alive.
Normally, we’d stay and order another glass or two of wine… However, we were ready to see what else was happening in Geneva.
We settled in on a bar called Les Brasseurs. Naturally, we ordered two pints of the Blonde Pur Malt.
Cheers!
Around this point, we started getting jealous of all the tables surrounding us ordering fondue. So, when in Switzerland right? We ordered up!
A fresh round a blondes and a fondue pot at your service.
Of course, we needed bread to dip into the melted cheese.
Time to test it out… I was a little apprehensive.
But it turned out to be so much fun. Who knew dipping bread into cheese could be this entertaining? A lot of it probably had to do with the fondue forks.
Now, up close and personal…
And J’s turn to eat captured on camera…
After we drank and feasted on our fondue, it was time to head back to the hotel for some much needed sleep before our early morning journey to the Alps the next day.
But we spotted these little gems along the cobbled street as we walked on.
Brightly lit tiles mixed with the old stones.
Definitely an appropriate way to end the evening…
See you later.
Bonne Nuit, Good Night from Genève.

those little French street sentiments are darling — things like that just make all the difference.

I know, right? It was such a surprise, when you saw them at a distance, you couldn’t see the writing. Good thing we got closer! X
