The temperature has been dropping steadily this week and I’m finding myself slightly unprepared for it. Freezing temperatures mean that commutes are extra chilly, wrapping up with coats and scarves and a cheeky heating pad or two.
And at night? To be honest, all I’m craving is nights in.
Cosy autumnal nights like these call for staying inside, surrounding yourself with mountains of blankets and the best comfort food.
We all have our favourite comfort foods to tuck into and in the past few years, I’ve been turning straight for a slice of cheesy deliciousness, nectar of the mozzarella gods, baked at the perfect temperature. It could turn from perfection to burned to a crisp in a matter of moments. It’s a fine line, but sometimes you need to live life on the edge, you know? And well, that life on the edge is with a slice of pizza. By slice, please realise that I mean an actual half of an entire pizza by the way.
Comfort not only means comfort food, it means spending time with your loved ones, whether that’s time with your significant other cuddling up on cold dark nights or cranking up the tunes and inviting your pals around your place for slices, Prosecco and a dance party.
For me, it’s always a great opportunity to spend quality time with Joe. Over the years, we’ve developed a bit of an obsession with hunting down the best pizza. Whether that’s here in London, our former home in New York or around the globe. First things first when we visit somewhere new… what’s their pizza selection look like?
But you always need a reliable staple you can count on when you’re home, like in your freezer, ready to envelop your stomach (heart and mind) with a cheesy hug at a moment’s notice.
Bring on the Chicago Town pizzas. Now, I know this is a sponsored post and you’re looking at me like, come on Kel, you’re laying it on a bit thick (ahem – like a thick crust pizza, or at this rate because of my love for comfort food, my thighs). But honestly, the Chicago Town range is in our top favourites. Joe has even gone on to say that he’ll make the trek across to Tesco so that he can buy them over the ones at our closer food store. So, it’s seriously #LoveAtFirstBite.
They’ve got plenty of variety, but we’re total bores when it comes to slice selection, so we typically go for pepperoni or four cheese. B O R I N G selection you may say, but you’ve never seen someone turn down one of those bad boys.
And there’s something comforting about getting home from a long day at work and knowing that you’re not breaking the bank to indulge in your comfort food. It’s autumnal living at its best. These are the nights that are meant for enough candles to set your flat aflame and to watch tacky movies and celebrate being home, being silly and spending time together.
Because there’s no one better to be silly with than your mate (or pal!), as part of Chicago Town’s #LoveAtFirstBite campaign, they’re giving away 1000s of pairs of pizza shades, because why wouldn’t you want pizza sunglasses to pose in? In order to win your own pair of Slice Shades all you need to do is pick up a promotional pack from your local foodie store, for you choose from either the Chicago Town Deep Dish or Takeaway pizza – both are yum – find the reference number on the inside and enter it online between 9am and 9pm to find out instantly if you’re a winner. Chicago Town are giving away 27 pairs an hour.
These comforting nights might also call for a few too many glasses of white wine and beer. And a whole lot of selfies. Create your very own virtual Slice Shades selfie using the hashtag #LoveAtFirstBite. I recommend posing with pizza by the way for added effect.
It’s fun and a cute way to be a part of the Chicago Town pizza gallery. All you need to do is upload a selfie and get decorating. And you thought Moschino was where it’s at with their fries. It’s all about the pizza baby. So en Vogue.
Now I’m not afraid to admit this, while I took these photos at the weekend, tonight I’ve written this post with another round of Chicago Town pizza in hand. These cold nights seriously call for deliciously cheesy comfort food.
Kelly xoxo
P.S. I even created one and I might have spent too long on this before deciding I was done and had to go to bed. It’s like Snapchat that you can play with on your actual computer and I couldn’t be stopped. I clearly missed a calling in life as a Picture Editor/Graphic Designer.
This is a sponsored post in collaboration with the awesome Chicago Town pizza. All pizza loving views and opinions are my own.

I’m sorry, but how it writing about something you clearly love (it doesn’t matter if it’s pizza or politics) in return for some dolla to supplement an otherwise 100% FREE site to you ‘blood money’? Bloggers spend their spare time creating content absolutely free for their readers (unlike magazines and many online destinations that charge a subscription fee,) so I for one think we should be congratulating those that have managed to scoop a collab – rather than judging them and leaving trolling comments. That’s a new low.

Thank you so much for the awesome support Hayley! I’ve blocked the comment from appearing because I’m not about keeping negativity around on my site. We all work super hard as bloggers and working with brands and companies who support what we do is an incredible thing. And to be honest, comments like that certainly won’t stop us from kicking ass and working hard to create our content. 🙂 x

Sorry, I forgot you lot operate in an echo chamber. You are all just making this completely “free content” for the visitors, lets not take into account that all you do is try to push products for money. Try not to make yourselves out to be too altruistic when at the end of the day your beloved visitors are just fools that up your visit count to get those precious “collabs”. You get free stuff and money for peddling crap to people and have then arrogance to suggest that people would pay a SUBSCRIPTION FEE for something similar? Get real.
#BLOODMONEY was obvious hyperbole but you’re clearly too caught up about what awesome collab you can scoop up next to think.
