Fairytale bucketlist travel? Waking up in an actual CASTLE in Ireland ✨🏰⬇️
Seriously, I think my goals in life now mainly consist around staying in castles and manor houses around the world because it feels like living in a fairytale!
Ballynahinch Castle: Where to stay overnight in a real life castle in Ireland
Ballynahinch Castle is located on a private 700 acre estate of woodland filled with plenty of rivers and walk you can go on.
The castle sits in County Galway and it’s one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever stayed!
I booked this very last minute before the start of a family trip in Ireland and I didn’t realise how dreamy this spot truly would be.
Stay in a Luxury Double room
We checked into our room and were greeted with the most beautiful sight!
Because we arrived later than I’d planned (a popped tire on our rental car when we were 30 minutes from here continues to haunt me) we didn’t get to spend as much time here as I’d hoped – but I think we made every minute count!
Our room was a Luxury Double room overlooking the river. While it definitely wasn’t the least expensive getaway I’ve ever been on… it was absolutely worth it.
The room was gorgeous!
You have TWO restaurants in the castle
And the entire castle has so many interesting rooms to spend time in.
It was such a fun getaway together!
I’d also really recommend booking into one of their restaurants for dinner. If you’re looking for something more casual? The Fisherman’s Pub & Ranji Room.
A bit fancier and romantic is The Owenmore Restaurant.
But we decided to keep things simple and go for the casual pub inside the castle (yes, a pub inside the castle… so amazing!). The food was lovely and I’d really enjoy going back for another stay someday to treat ourselves to dinner in their riverside restaurant.
Things to do in Ireland ⬇️
Wake up to breakfast in bed
We may not have had dinner in their fine dining restaurant, but we totally splurged by getting breakfast in the room.
Of course, we’d already been out on a walk at this point – but breakfast in bed is such a treat. We came back to the room to enjoy it!

What you can find nearby
Ballynahinch Castle is also only a 30 minute drive from Kylemore Abbey (which I’ve shared on my Instagram feed) and just over an hour to Galway.
So, would you want to wake up in a castle?! 🏰✨
