Have you ever dreamed of staying or going somewhere for so long and when it finally comes true, it feels like a real life fairytale? That’s how it felt for me stepping inside The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Having lived in the city of Edinburgh, I’ve always known The Balmoral as an absolutely iconic Scottish landmark and location to stay. I mean just LOOK AT IT – gorgeous!! An unmissable spot to see when in the city. And now I’m here to tell you it’s also a totally unmissable place to stay… or even just pop in for drinks and dinner.
Luckily for us – we booked in to stay at The Balmoral Hotel for two nights. And even got upgraded to stay in a very magical suite, where the very last book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was completed!
A literary haven suite at The Balmoral
The Balmoral Hotel has a number of luxury suites to enchant guests during their stay, but this one is perhaps, the most magical. As you step into this suite, a world of sophistication and magic unfolds, promising an unforgettable stay for any guest. The suite is named ‘The JK Rowling Suite’ after the author completing the series in this very room.
There are plenty of books and magical art… it feels like this suite was made just for us to visit!
Very magical decor
The suite itself is a unique masterpiece of design, residing in one of the top corners of the Balmoral Hotel. Elegantly furnished with plush sofas and ornate fixtures, the room is a mix of modern comfort meets cosy. The attention to detail is evident, with nods to the wizarding world cleverly incorporated into the décor – from subtle references in the artwork to the striking pieces that evoke the essence of the beloved wizarding books.
This suite embodies the timeless allure of both Edinburgh and the literary marvels that have captivated millions worldwide. For anyone with a penchant for luxury and a love for the enchanting world of Harry Potter, this experience promises memories that will last a lifetime.
As you gaze out of the suite’s windows, the breathtaking sights of Edinburgh unfolds. The picturesque view of the cityscape, including the stunning Calton Hill adds an extra layer of charm to the entire experience.
Beyond the Suite
While the suite itself is an enchanting haven, The Balmoral Hotel has an array of amenities that further elevate the stay… you won’t want to spend your entire time in the room – though you easily could. PS I would 10/10 recommend the room service for a cosy night in with a film too.
But as I said, The Balmoral Hotel isn’t just a haven for luxurious accommodation. Indulge in fine dining at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant or the slightly more casual but still incredible, The Prince Brasserie. Perhaps you can relax in the spa for an afternoon or take advantage of the hotel’s central location to explore Edinburgh’s historical sites and cultural treasures.
Dinner at The Prince Brasserie
The Prince Brasserie, nestled within this historic establishment, offers a dining experience that perfectly complements the sophistication of the hotel with a relaxed and cosy atmosphere.
We were welcomed immediately with a cool glass of champagne from their champagne trolley – a thing I never knew I needed in life but now very much need at home! We sipped and toasted to this grand adventure before tucking into our feast for the night. The food here is truly delicious and I’d highly recommend making sure you take time for dinner here during your stay – and of course – breakfast the next day as well.
A Timeless Memory
Staying in a suite at The Balmoral Hotel is an experience that I’ll never forget. It feels VERY bucket list kind of lucky to me! The suite itself was weaving together luxury, literature, and the enchantment from one of the most iconic magical series. Whether you’re a fan of Harry Potter or simply seeking a luxurious escape, this suite promises an unforgettable stay in the heart of Scotland’s capital city.
As the sun sets over Edinburgh, leaving behind a silhouette of the castle against the twilight sky, one can’t help but feel the magic that lingers within the walls of this extraordinary suite.
