We finally made it to Florida!
After an incredibly smooth flight (yay), we arrived safe and sound in the Sunshine State!
We landed late on a Friday night, and we were lucky enough to stay with my relatives for two days before heading up to Orlando. But we were massively jet lagged. Big time. So much so, that I didn’t photograph or register much of anything for awhile.
That was about to change in Orlando. I’d been pining to return to Universal Studios ever since I went to the Harry Potter section of the park years ago. So much has changed since… but more on that later. We arrived there on a Sunday afternoon and took to lounging by the pool before getting ready to head over to the CityWalk for dinner.
The Universal Studios CityWalk is a completely crazy place. Bright flashing lights, restaurants around every corner… It’s the right spot to go for food and drinks. And we were getting hungry.
Immediately, we settled on Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food. After all, anywhere I can get a margarita and guacamole, I’m set.
We forgot about the whole ‘book into a restaurant thing’ so we ordered a round of drinks at the bar while we waited for a table. One margarita and one Mexican beer.
The margarita was strong. Really strong. And definitely not the best I’ve ever had… overall, it was okay. J was happy with whichever Mexican type beer he chose.
Shortly after we were served our drinks, our table was ready. They stuck us in a slightly remote corner outside, but I wasn’t in the mood to worry about trying to move. Jet lag. Sigh.
We ordered a round of fresh guacamole and chips.
I really enjoyed this feature. You pick what goes in your guacamole. Not an onion fan? No problem, leave it out. This was amazing because while I love guacamole, and yes, I’ll eat it with onions or whatever else is in it, I liked the option to exclude certain ingredients.
They make it right in front of you! I will undoubtedly rave about this for awhile.
While we stuffed ourselves full of guac, our entrées arrived. Fish tacos pour moi and fajitas for the gentlemen.
With mine, you sort of assemble your own. It was pretty great and well worth getting.
And with fajitas, you always make your own. J was happy with the sizzling chicken.
So here’s the deal. Everything was great and I’d recommend Antojitos but it’s obviously been six months since we’ve been in the states. I completely forgot about massive portion sizes and the fact that you always can get a box to take it home. The food was good but it was just way too much for us. (The thing I love about living in the UK is that food is – for the most part – just the right size).
We skipped out on boxes. I don’t think I’ve looked at guacamole since.
But it was definitely a fantastic first night in Orlando. And we didn’t stay out late, because we had a very busy morning of Harry Potter fandom ready for me us in the morning…
Stay tuned!

Ah yum! Love that you can choose what’s in your guac. I hate onions and bell peppers and tomatoes in it so it’s awesome for me!

Now that we’re back in London, I kind of want to have a personal guac maker on standby… that’s normal right? xoxo

I love guac, I am a guac fiend but prefer it with just a little tomato so this pick your own sounds ace! x
