Ah the Shard.
One of London’s iconic buildings, filled with restaurants, bars, hotels, offices and an well, a brilliantly spectacular view from the very top.
The View From The Shard to be specific.
I was invited along to check out their new summer viewing area… and let me tell you, we were in for a treat.
A cool trip up to the top of the building requires two elevators. That’s right, you have to switch mid-rise to get to the top. Fair enough, it’s a journey that needs a bit of a break.
The things you’ll do to scope out stellar views of London…
The sun was just peeking through the clouds when we arrived at the top.
Being up so high in the sky is an incredibly surreal experience.
And obviously it’s a little bit petrifying looking down. So, clearly the champagne is flowing to calm any nerves.
Cheers to you London, you magnificent wonder.
After toasting to the beautiful city below we decided to climb up another set up stairs…
You expect to walk into more of the same hardwood floors and enclosed glass panels. Reality is slightly different.
Flowers and greenery are EVERYWHERE.
Let me tell you, it’s a bright and bold atmosphere on the 72nd floor.
We took a seat near the glass panel… which by the way, has openings all around (in a safe way!) allowing a cool breeze to sweep over your skin. It’s completely unexpected, but great on warm days.
Ah the glamorous life of a lifestyle blogger sitting on the floor… Speaking of glam, at the top of the viewing deck you can hire out Fortnum & Mason picnic baskets. It’s essentially a picnic with the most incredible view that you certainly won’t get in the park. These are on offer up until September 8th and while it’s expensive, it’s the price you pay for a day of luxury.
We however, were there for champagne and a damn good view, an equally enticing option!
We left feeling a little light headed, champagne on the 72nd floor and the unparalleled View From The Shard will do that to you.

I absolutely have to go and experience the view. I am petrified of heights but even still…..worth being scared to see London from that height.
