Hello lovelies!
It appears this is one for the archives, or to hit up in the future as I’ve only just looked to realize that the London’s Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is now closed for the season.
Sorry about that.
But we can still have fun and look back right? Memories and all.
J and I decided on a whim to head to Hyde Park to take in the sights before the holidays. It’s hard to call it a Winter Wonderland as the entirety of the United Kingdom was lacking snow at this point. However, the bright lights and loud sounds were calling…
There was a fairly long queue to get in, but it went along quickly as everyone huddled together joyously before the Christmas hols.
I’m not normally a fan of theme parks. The rides kind of terrify me (I hate heights) and I generally lose every sort of arcade game in the vicinity. But I think I may be coming around because it was a lot of fun and I loved it.
The crowds, the lights, everything surrounding us was getting me well into the Christmas spirit.
Plus my first hot chocolate of the season definitely helped. People were eagerly waiting in line to get warmed up with their boozy treats. And the stands did not disappoint. There were a variety of endless possibilities to mix in; Baileys, Armaretto, Peppermint Schnapps… well, if you can name it, they had it.
We decided to indulge sans alcohol this time.
Warm chocolatey goodness. Delish.
We sipped and wandered around the displays, laughed along with those vying for their game prizes, oohed and ahhed at the rides that hang you upside down (eek!).
Eventually, we needed food. All the scents of glorious foods were engulfing us and we had to cave. J ordered from the German sausage stand (there are so many of these in the park, it’s hard to count) and I happened sought out left right and center until I found to spot the giant pretzels.
My favorite! Pretzels! Salted dough browned to perfection.
Finally, after making our way through most of the park, the stalls, the sights, we headed back into the real world.
So we bid adieu to Winter Wonderland… until next year.
Did any of you go to the Winter Wonderland? Or any festive markets where you live during the holidays?
