I’ve found my calling.
I’m meant to live in the Buddha Bar in Knightsbridge. And by live I mean eat here every single day of my life.
While my parents were visiting us a few weeks ago in London, we stopped by Knightsbridge to check out Harrods for an afternoon of champagne at one of their Oyster bars. But when we arrived we realized the ultimate flaw in our plan.
We were hungry. Really hungry. Ravenous even.
So we side stepped Harrods in search of a lunch spot.
Enter the Buddha Bar.
We walked in without a reservation on a Monday afternoon and were seated fairly easily. I’m not sure if that’s the norm for walk-ins at the Buddha Bar. I generally like to make reservations for everything, breakfast, lunch, and dinner to avoid any foodie disappointment.
Once inside, the decor is gorgeous; elegant, lush, oriental, glamorous. The tables, beautiful. At this point, we were all very much looking forward to tasting the food.
So we may have ordered a few things…
My mom isn’t a massive sushi fan so she picked a chicken dish: the five spice barbecued chicken with teriyaki and mushrooms.
It was INCREDIBLE. We all may have stolen a few bites of this. We couldn’t help it! Even if you go for sushi, be sure to add this dish to your table. You need it in your life.
Naturally we needed an order of egg fried rice on the side too.
It may have been the best rice I’ve ever had. In. My. Life.
Side rice aside, we also ordered a plethora of sushi to share. I have a habit of ordering too much sushi. I always think we need more and then we never end up finishing it. I curbed myself in a major way at the Buddha Bar.
Here’s what we got: The Buddha Bar Roll, sashimi wrapped in cucumber and creamy sesame sauce.
A california roll and a salmon and avocado roll.
SO GOOD.
Bring on the wasabi and soy sauce. We gobbled up all of the sushi like it was going to be taken away from us at any moment. It was amazing. And it was the perfect amount of food for four. We all felt comfortable, well fed but not overly full.
This review is certainly a rave. I can’t help but gush over this food.
I’d love to come back to the Buddha Bar at night, the cocktail bar looks stunning, even in the daytime.
Take me back for drinks, pretty please?
Basically this is a ravingly positive review. If you haven’t been yet, get yourself there. It’s a bit on the expensive side, but for a one off or a special occasion I’d say go for it.
You won’t regret stepping into the Buddha Bar.
