We flew into Maui on a cloudy Tuesday afternoon.
We were a little bit worried… where was all the Hawaii sunshine? It wasn’t too important though as we were ready to crash out. Nearly 15 hours of travel and three flights will do that to you. So we quickly picked up our rental car and drove over to Lahaina, the North West area of the island, and checked into the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa.
By then the sun was getting ready to set… and we were greeted to warm breezes and palm trees.
And a few other surprises! Aloha!
We’re not the types to turn down such a lovely gift, so we indulged a little before we turned in for the night, at the casual hour of 8PM.
Jet lag has a habit of getting to you.
But we woke up early the next day ready to explore!
This little guy was ready too.
So we ordered an early breakfast, trying to stay on the healthy side with granola, yogurt and fresh berries.
After breakfast we got ready to go hit up the grocery store to stock up the hotel fridge (glamourous, I know).
Usually when we travel, once we get to our new location, we try to go out and pick up fresh fruit, breakfast foods and snacks. This way we can indulge a bit more when we go out for dinner and drinks.
It’s a good travel tip that we like to live by. Yogurt and fruit at the hotel are extra costs that you can cut out easily by picking it up yourself. Unless of course, you have an endless budget, in which case live it up with room service daily.
Before we left the room, we took our obligatory newlyweds going grocery shopping mirror photo.
Then waited for the valet to bring our car…
And we definitely didn’t hate the view on the way to the store…
After shopping we hurried back so that we could get ourselves down to the pool and beach.
But we really wanted to relax and get some drinks from the pool bar and lounge.
So we migrated from the sandy beach to the pool and ordered our first round of Pina Coladas.
And enjoyed the sunny skies.
Our first full day in Hawaii was completely relaxing and wonderful.
And with views that are hard to beat.
I can’t wait to share more of our adventures soon.
