You may already know this, but breakfast is my favorite part of the day.
I especially love a morning fueled on hot coffees, delicious food, good company and well, a great view. So it was about time that we made our way to Duck & Waffle.
It’s only about a three minute walk from Liverpool Street station to get to Duck & Waffle. Before you know it, you’re at the Heron Tower and whisked dizzyingly up forty floors high in the sky via a somewhat terrifying glass elevator.
Once inside it’s a mix of modern, rustic and luxury. Does that make sense? Well, maybe you just need to see it for yourself…
It’s certainly eclectic. I commend the decorators for this visual masterpiece.
After ogling the bar area, we were shown to our table where we promptly ordered coffees. Shockingly, I hadn’t had any yet that morning. Naturally, an Americano for the American. It really was quite beautiful looking.
And J ordered a cappuccino that looked heavenly.
Feeling a little bit better with a jolt of caffeine, I was ready to look properly at the food. The breakfast menu at Duck & Waffle is a thing of glory.
I ordered the Columbian Eggs with toast and avocado. (Can’t resist a dish with avocado!)
Absolutely stunning.
The Columbian Eggs were amazing. I’m still gushing over them. I could and would eat this every single day if that was possible. It was creamy, flavorful, and surprisingly light.
While I went for a (slightly) healthier option, J couldn’t resist the allure of dessert breakfast. May I present to you, the Bananas Brûlée…
Wow.
I might have stolen a few bites. This treat was perfect and completed with ice cream (at breakfast? How naughty!) and nutella. Melt in your mouth amazingness.
We savored these dishes, finishing up each and every bite.
Of course, during our meal, my eyes were on the prize eggs. But once we’d licked our plates clean, we had time to sit back and soak in the atmosphere around the restaurant. When we arrived it wasn’t that full… Although, I should say that all of the window tables were packed.
And while the inside is easy on the eyes, the view out the window is equally incredible.
It’s strange to think how high up you are above the rest of the city. Truly, I try to ignore that fact so I can fully enjoy the experience, instead of remembering my extreme fear of heights.
In order to extend our stay at Duck & Waffle a little longer, we ordered a second round of coffee.
After sipping on these delights we decided to take a peek around the restaurant. On the opposite side, those dining had exclusive views of The Gherkin and the tiny spot of sunshine poking through the clouds. Lucky.
I think it would have been nice to have been seated amongst views focused on these taller buildings (that just means we need to come back again, a brilliant excuse). But that’s a hardly a drawback to the dynamic Duck & Waffle.
Unless you’re not a fan of heights and good food, Duck & Waffle won’t disappoint. You can’t find a flaw. We’ll definitely be returning again for dinner or drinks. Judging from the bar, I imagine they make a phenomenal cocktail.
PS. Duck & Waffle is open 24/7. Seriously. So if you’re up for it after a night out… well, just remember that it’s one hell of an elevator ride to the top!

Duck & Waffle was incredible. I was slightly envious of the waffles, but honestly avocado dishes are always the best! xox

I have such good memories from the Duck and Waffle – mostly from popping up there for dessert and a coffee after dinner at Sushi Samba (another London favourite of mine). I have never been for breakfast/brunch however, but after seeing your photos I think I might have to next time I’m in town!

I’d love to go up for dessert. After trying the waffle at breakfast, I can imagine how good that would be as dessert for the evening. So we’ll swap? I’ll go for dessert, you go for breakfast! xox
