Pink Mamma is seriously Insta-famous.
With travel bloggers, foodies and the fashion huns flocking, it seems like Pink Mamma is the place to be – and to take a photo in Paris.
Like any blogger after the shot, I wanted to find out what the hype was all about.
Where is Pink Mamma?
Pink Mamma serves up Italian food in the heart of Pigelle, on the border between the 9th and the 18th arrondissements. I
t’s a good stop along the way up or back down from Montmartre. The building is five stories high and well, it’s pink. You can’t miss it.
They don’t take reservations
Believe it or not, they don’t take reservations at Pink Mamma, so it’s first come, first serve.
We decided to go for lunch, when they’re open from 12-2:30pm. We arrived a few minutes after 12pm to find a queue already at the door. Cursing myself for not being super prompt, we got into the line, only to realise that the place hadn’t actually even opened yet. SUCCESS.
You can hear the staff inside pumping themselves up before opening the doors.
Queue a round of jovial shouting, right before they opened the doors. We were probably the 15th people into the restaurant. They walk you up ALL the stairs to the top floor.
THIS is the shot. You know the one.
The rooftop level is bright, full of light and oh so much colour. It’s whimsy but elegant. And it’s precisely how I’d love to decorate not only my future house – but my future rooftop. It’s gorgeous.
Menus presented to us, we were greeted by a lackluster waiter who immediately pushed the most expensive thing on the menu to us, the sharing steaks, along with their most expensive cocktail.
As a first impression, I wasn’t massively keen on it. I wouldn’t have minded if he then pointed out say, his favourite pasta dish or pizza, but that’s where he left it.
Moving on, we ordered none of these things. I went for a Spritz cocktail and Joe a beer. Simple and effective.
What to order
It’s such a beautiful space that it seems only right to make the most of your time there.
Order a starter: we tried the Burrata di Salvatore. A perfectly round ball of burrata cheese with and chopped anchovies, aubergines and a dash of salad. It was creamy and the anchovies gave the perfect amount of added salt to the dish. I’d eat it again in a heartbeat.
And the restaurant had filled up in no time. A starter was necessary – we were sticking around for awhile.
The presentation is stunning of course, I’d expected it.
I know there’s much to be said about finding restaurants based on Instagram posts, but I find it’s one of the most helpful ways to locate new spots when travelling.
You see the glamorous food shots from the pros, but you also see the snaps from people who aren’t writers or photographers. They’re just there for dinner with their pals. It’s like a more useful version of Tripadvisor because you don’t have whiny Carol giving it one star and complaining about her stay.
Anyways, when our mains arrived, I knew I was even more pleased with our choices.
After spotting this dish on their ‘gram – it had to be mine.
I’m such a sucker for truffle and mushroom, so the La fameuse pâte à la truffe was perfect for me. It was creamy, flavourful and actually an ideal portion size. I’m also contemplating buying these serving dishes because they are dreamy. Would 10/10 recommend to order this dish. I loved it.
More things to do in Paris:
Joe picked a classic Joe choice, the margarita pizza, Mammargherita.
I had predicted it all along – and it happened. The pizza was good, fine, normal. Nothing you couldn’t get back in London.
I’d liken it to Pizza Pilgrims or Franco Manca. If you were going along, I’d probably recommend to try the pasta dishes or go for a more unique pizza on their menu (sorry Joe!).
So we sat, chatted, ate, drank, Instagrammed.
Surprisingly on this occasion not everyone was all about getting a photo of their food.
I had a few odd looks from girls at the table next to ours while I took shots of our table.
As a blogger, I feel like I’ve gotten used to this so I wasn’t particularly fussed. I was even less bothered when they stood up and got pictures on the staircase after I did. Inspiration at it’s finest.

So, is it worth it?
All in all, Pink Mamma’s rooftop is undoubtedly, one of the most Instagrammable locations.
Yes, it’s worth it.
The food is pretty, tasty and well priced.
Our server wasn’t great. (Note: He did try to pocket a tenner as tip and we had to specifically ask for our change back – we were leaving a tip anyways, but it was super awkward!.)
But if you can get past the fact that the service could be hit or miss and you’re all about that experience, I’d say to go. I’d absolutely go back or try some of the other restaurants in their group. Because one server does not make the restaurant.
Oh, and pro-tip. I didn’t realise that the restaurant spanned over a few floors.
There’s a pink bar room a level down, and seats on the ground floor.
You absolutely have to get there when it opens if you want that top level spot. It was completely unintentional from us, but I’m so happy we managed it.
If you can’t guess from this post, I’d have to say Pink Mamma is definitely one of the most Instagrammable restaurants in Paris. And on the whole, definitely worth the hype.
