Low, Slow & Juke.
Well, surprise surprise, nothing grabs my attention more than an invite of food and booze.
A few Tuesdays ago, I skipped on over to Westminster to a hidden gem that’s just opened, Low, Slow & Juke. You could easily miss it walking down the street, but heyo I had a map and was determined to sip on something sweet and eat all the meats.
Happy Tuesday to me.
I was greeted to a friendly receptionist and headed downstairs to a an open room brimming with people. I was handed a cocktail immediately. I liked it already.
A phenomenal little snap to add to my ever expanding Instagram wall, if I don’t say so myself.
I quickly spotted two of my favourite fellow bloggers, Marie from Ms Food Blogger and Alexandra from Where2DoWhat and was then introduced to Chris from TikiChris. Go take a look at all of them, they’re fab.
We had a good catch up over cocktails and then headed to seek out a table to get our food on.
The table was filled with a bucket of Beavertown Beers. I recently discovered the brand when I was seeking out my pumpkin beer fix back in the autumn. I cannot recommend ALL of their brews enough. Each one I’ve had is completely different and unique but delicious.
In addition to sipping on a cold one, we had starters of sticky finger lickin’ good chicken wings coated in chili and caramel. Definitely unlike the usual wings I’m used to from my hometown of Buffalo, New York. These were unbelievable.
Next we tried some of the sides. I’m not a massive slaw fan, so I dug straight into the halloumi salad and ahem – the deep fried mac and cheese. What can I say? You never turn down deep fried mac and cheese.
And then ALL the meats.
I never used to really eat BBQ or ribs, but now I can’t get enough. Yep, it’s all about those maple glazed baby back ribs, beef ribs, burnt ends, brisket and MORE wings. Although I have to admit, my favourite of the bunch was definitely the BBQ chicken.
We rounded out the night a tray of the most phenomenal brownies I think I’ve ever had (and my mom makes fantastic ones).
The vibes at Low, Slow & Juke are down to earth, casual in this new Westminster staple.
I cannot recommend a visit there enough. Friendly faces, soulful vibes, not to mention good bar area lighting. It’s unassuming and without a doubt a great spot for comfort food, smokey cocktails and catching up with pals.
Low, Slow & Juke is located at 1 Abbey Orchard Street, SW1P 2LU.
What are you waiting for? The smokehouse is calling!
