So we’ve all dreamed about getting our Hogwarts letter, right?
Even if it’s, like, 20 years late… I will honestly forgive the owl post if someday I can just roam the halls of Hogwarts…
Just because we aren’t riding the Hogwarts Express – though you kind of CAN in real life too – to the wizarding world, that doesn’t mean we can’t have seriously magical experiences throughout the world.
I’m on a mission to discover the most magical places in the world and visit them. This includes all things wizarding world inspired!
If you’re as obsessed with the series as I am, then pack your bags and don’t forget your wand. We’re about to explore the best Harry Potter-themed stays in the UK.
Whether you’re a Gryffindor adventurer or a Slytherin schemer, there’s a spellbinding spot waiting just for you. No magic needed… well, mostly…
Best Harry Potter-themed stays in the United Kingdom
1. The Ground Keeper’s Cottage – North Yorkshire
Sometimes you want to escape the world and, oh I don’t know, pretend you’re living in the same type of cozy cottage that Hagrid lives in.
This charming stone-built cottage is packed with traditional features like open fireplaces, timber beams, and enough comfy corners to curl up with your favourite Potter book.
Perfect for: Families, couples, or anyone needing a magical retreat far from the prying eyes of Muggles.
2. 101 House at the End aka the real life 12 Grimmauld Place
When I spotted that there is a townhouse in York, England that resembles a real life 12 Grimmauld Place? We couldn’t book a night fast enough.
Enter 101 House at the End.
Nestled amongst a gorgeous row of homes outside the enchanting city of York, England, lies this hidden gem that promises a truly magical stay.
With its whimsical name 101 House at the End is truly as close as you can get to a real life stay at Number 12 Grimmauld Place from the Harry Potter series.

3. Enchanted Chambers at Georgian House Hotel – London
Spend a night at London’s ONLY wizarding hotel!
Tucked away just a short broomstick ride from Victoria Station you can find The Wizard Chambers at The Georgian House Hotel in London.
With a selection of varying enchanted chambers to choose from for the night – the moment you step you’re greeted with gothic four-poster beds, and lots of cool hidden nooks.
And the best part? There are bubbling cauldrons and antique books scattered around like you’re in Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
PS: Start your day with a “Wizard’s Breakfast”. Because if you can’t eat like a witch or wizard while staying here, when can you?

4. The Balmoral – J.K. Rowling Suite – Edinburgh
Have you ever dreamed of staying or going somewhere for so long and when it finally comes true, it feels like a real life fairytale? That’s how it felt for me stepping inside The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Having lived in the city of Edinburgh, I’ve always known The Balmoral as an absolutely iconic Scottish landmark and location to stay. I mean just LOOK AT IT – gorgeous!! An unmissable spot to see when in the city. And now I’m here to tell you it’s also a totally unmissable place to stay… or even just pop in for drinks and dinner.
Luckily for us – we booked in to stay at The Balmoral Hotel for two nights. And we even got upgraded to stay in a very magical suite! This is where the very last book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was completed!
The suite itself is a unique masterpiece of design, residing in one of the top corners of the Balmoral Hotel. Elegantly furnished with plush sofas and ornate fixtures, the room is a mix of modern comfort meets cosy. The attention to detail is evident with nods to the wizarding world cleverly incorporated into the décor. From subtle references in the artwork to the striking pieces that evoke the essence of the beloved wizarding books.
This suite embodies the timeless allure of both Edinburgh and the literary marvels that have captivated millions worldwide.
For anyone with a penchant for luxury and a love for the enchanting world of Harry Potter, this experience promises memories that will last a lifetime.
