Calling all chocolate lovers!
With my recent travels over to Belgium, I thought this would be the perfect way to break things up, because hello, we’re talking CHOCOLATE.
I’ve been hearing a bit of buzz surrounding this product for awhile now, so I’m excited to finally debut it on Flat Eleven.
Recently I was contacted to see if I’d like to try samples of the new latest and greatest chocolate drink, CHOCO LAIT. And actually, you’ve probably seen or heard of them before.
Ever spotted CAFFÈ LATTE? It’s essentially the coffee sister drink to CHOCO LAIT.
I’d seen these advertised recently amongst skiing competitions that take place in Europe. You know, like the downhill ski races? I’m slightly fascinated by the beautiful cities tucked away in the mountains, so from time to time I’ll sit and watch the races. And it makes sense that I’d seen advertisements/sponsorships for these drinks during European ski competitions. The company who jumpstarted these chocolate drinks is called Emmi, and they’re a Swiss brand that uses Swiss chocolate and fresh Swiss milk in their products. It’s all coming together now.
Naturally, I was interested to see what they’d actually taste like. I was sent two samples to try: Original (Chocolate) and Caramel.
First things first, what struck me immediately about the product was the design. The bottles aren’t boring, average milk cartons. They’re a bit fashionable actually.
Plus the quote on the front of the Original, “A little chocolate a day keeps the worries away,” might already happen to be my mantra for 2015.
Emmi is all about making chocolate milk stylish. The bottle is designed like a to-go coffee cup. It’s ideal for your busy morning commute, and especially nice for those who don’t necessarily like coffee or tea but crave a little morning treat.
So clearly it’s versatile. But what about the verdict on taste?
The Original was so so sooo good.
It’s been ages since I’ve had chocolate milk, and now it won’t be the last. It felt sort of like a flashback to my childhood. The Original Choco Lait has a smooth, rich taste but you’re not left feeling overly full once you’re finished. It wasn’t too sweet either. I found it to be an excellent combination.
As for the caramel? Definitely one for those who have a massive sweet tooth.
Don’t get me wrong, it was tasty. But it was a bit too sweet for me. To clarify, I am the type of person who drinks their coffee black (no milk, no sugar) so I’m more sensitive to extra sweetness. But if you like your sugary goodness, you should pick up the Caramel ASAP. For the record, my husband (sweet lover extraordinaire) thought both were excellent and has asked me when we can get more.
Ironically, soon after, we did go get more. Sort of.
We popped into Tesco the other day to pick up a few food essentials, and that’s when we spotted the display full of CHOCO LAIT and CAFFÈ LATTE. I should rephrase this. Tesco was completely out of the CHOCO LAIT Original. Go figure. So we decided to try out the CAFFÈ LATTE Cappuccino and the Skinny Latte flavour.
And you know what? I’d definitely recommend those too.
You can buy these Emmi products in Tesco (and apparently Ocado and a few other independent food stores) as of January 5th 2015. It’s VERY new to the UK market, so be patient if like us, you find them out of stock. These retail for £1.35, but when we went in to pick these up the coffee ones they were on special offer for £1. ONE POUND. Amazing.
Needless to say, we’ll be stopping back in to refill supplies soon.
It’s new, it’s exciting. And to be honest, I think at these prices, they are giving the competition out there a run for their money. We’re so used to stopping into Starbucks or Costa to pick up a sweet hot drink, but sometimes you really need a change up without sky high prices. I for one, am a huge lover of chocolate and iced drinks. So these chilled treats are exactly what I’m looking for.
So, it’s a win in my book. What do you think chocolate lovers? Are you going to try out the new CHOCO LAIT?

I was sent the CHOCO LAIT samples, but I can always guarantee that I’m giving my 100% honest opinion on products that I try. Come on guys, it’s chocolate. What’s not to love?

I know. It’s cruel of me. I think you could probably sneak in a chocolate milk every now and then and it would be allowed.. I won’t tell! xox
