On day two of our Floridan adventure, I found myself poolside enjoying the glorious sun and water.
And slowly but surely getting burned from the rays. Despite my super pale skin sunscreen (SPF 30-50 anyone?) I still managed to get a reddish tint. Delightful.
In order to cure my pain, we decided to dine out at the Crab and Fin.
The Crab and Fin is in St. Armand’s Circle in Sarasota. Look it up. St. Armand’s and Sarasota are lovely and crawling with friendly centennials.
My friend Tom, who relocated down to Florida a few years ago met up with us too. Thank goodness I had someone to be food adventurous with.
The menu is sprawling with seafood. Oysters, clams, shrimp, salmon, crab, swordfish, alligator, octopus… if you find it in the sea, you’ll find it on the menu.
We started off with salmon pâté and crackers. Simple but delicious. I couldn’t stop eating this.
Excuse the poor photo, it doesn’t show off how delish it really was.
Onto the more fun part. The Oyster tasting.
I couldn’t remember the last time I’d had oysters. So we ordered up the plate full.
I wish I could remember which oyster was which, but I can’t.
Still, don’t they look lovely?
A bit blurry, but here we are trying it out.
For my entrée I had the Seafood Gumbo, which had a bit of everything (okay not everything, the menu is too exhaustive for that).
Tom opted for the chicken (too much seafood, obviously).
Unfortunately, I’m a bad vacation blogger because I didn’t even snap a shot of everyone else’s dishes.
Oops.
We passed on dessert, but ever the good hosts the Crab and Fin brought us pineapple dipped in chocolate.
Now of course, I got a photo of this.
Stuffed full of seafood, we left the Crab and Fin and said our goodbyes in St. Armand’s Circle.
Such a lovely little location isn’t it?
Has anyone ever been down to Sarasota? Or St. Armand’s Circle?
If so, tell me about it! Even though my family has been coming here for years, I love a great recommendation.
Now I’m back to a bit of sunning for the day.
xx Kelly

I’d never had it either. I can’t believe I’ve spent my whole life without it. Now it’s a new staple dessert in my book! xo
