Our last day in Switzerland arrived.
We wanted to see a little more of Lake Geneva, so we caught the train to Lausanne which is about a half hour journey from Geneva. And quite possibly the hilliest city I’ve ever been to.
Once we arrived, our first stop was down to the water.
My oversized cardigan kept me warm as I ventured out onto the rocks.
Normally on a clear day, across the water you have views of the Alps. Instead, our view was into the fog… which was still pretty incredible.
With a last look out across the water, we turned back inland and headed to the center of Laussane. So we began the unassuming climb. Just a small hill to the center of town, that’s all.
No. It was a mammoth hill. Rivaling all others.
At least it was scenic. But we lost layers along the way. Puffy North Face Jacket? Scarf? Oversized cardi? Now, arm candy.
From here we trekked our way up to the cathedral where the views extended out over the little city.
Back to the cathedral…
After we walked through the church we quickly stopped back in town for treats… where we found the famous Parisian sweets maker, Ladurée, known for their macarons (not to be confused with macaroons).
Every time we go to Paris, I aim to stop in, and it somehow always slips my mind. So we had to stop in Lausanne.
We ordered three macarons: Pistachio, vanilla and chocolate. J ate the chocolate immediately, so it didn’t make the picture.
After spending a little bit of time in Lausanne, we had to get back to Geneva so we could catch our flight to London.
But we had just enough time for a quick last look at Geneva…
So we left Geneva, headed to the airport.
And of course, as a standard flight option, ordered some wine on the late night flight back to London.
I had a great time in Geneva. But next time I’d definitely want to spend more time in the Alps!

Thanks so much Shawna. I think it’s a bit bad that every time I go somewhere new, I just want to keep exploring. And Paris is amazing. I could go there over and over and never get tired of it. Only now I’ll have to keep buying macarons…
