It was our last morning in San Francisco and we took advantage of the fact that we had late check out. I had the most glorious of lie ins and never wanted to crawl out of bed.
BUT. It was the first day we were going to FINALLY see the Golden Gate Bridge, and venture over to the Muir Woods to see the first of the Redwoods in Northern California. I couldn’t wait to see it all, take all the photos and become an Instagram Queen.
The world, and the weather, however had other plans.
It was barely peeking through the fog. I evidently had some misconceptions about the weather in Northern California. Rookie mistake.
We decided not to worry too much about the bridge, and figured we’d cross it and make our way our of San Francisco towards the Muir Woods and Beach before moving onto Sausalito for the night.
As we crossed, a magical thing started to happen. It wasn’t so foggy on the other side.
So I did what any sane person would do, and threw myself half of the window to get a better look. And photos.
In hindsight, this was a TERRIBLE idea. I don’t recommend doing this while you’re in a car. Bad things will likely happen.
Anyways!
We drove on our way towards Muir Woods and decided a stop at the beach first was a good plan. I also spilled coffee on my shirt and changed into this Ivy Park beaut from Topshop. LOVE.
Also, I’m obsessed with this satin pajama jacket. It’s so soft and comfy and yet, so sophisticated.
Let’s talk about Muir Beach then shall we? Upon arriving, it was cool. I was slightly underdressed and could have done with a cosy knit or oversized jumper.
There are also signs around the beach indicating that this is a site for toxic waste, so hey don’t go in the water. We found this slightly concerning as so many people were flocking to the beach, but hey ho.
So um, we avoided the water for obvious reasons and then we left the beach only to stop into this little pub to have a quick look around.
Because no where to be reminded of England than in amongst a Northern California beach. And then we decided to get ourselves to Muir Woods to see the redwoods! SO EXCITING.
Welcome to the Muir Woods!
The Muir Woods are just the start of the northern redwoods area.
Beautiful woodland surrounds you and I have to say, if you’re ever in the area, you have to stop in, we were in absolute awe. And these are just the tip of the iceberg.
I wish we had more time to explore. I’m 100% keeping the far north redwoods on my list for future trips.
