After a day of adventuring through the Muir Woods, the Muir Beach and finally catching a sighting of the Golden Gate Bridge, we headed into Sausalito for the night. (Fun fact, I actually referred to it as Saulsalito for a solid week.)
When we were planning our trip, we weren’t really sure on the layout of the land. Would we want to stay long in San Francisco? Would we want an extra night in Napa?
It was completely up in the air, until the day before, when Joe and I decided on a whim to stop over in Sausalito.
Just across the Golden Gate Bridge, we knew that we needed to explore this baby.
Especially after we heard about the GORGEOUS Sushi Ran. Best sushi in the San Francisco area? Worth booking a hotel room in the little town specifically for that reason? Sure, why not?
Our dinner reservations were a little bit on the early side so that we were secured a table. (Cough cough, 5:30pm)
Still, delicious food is delicious food, so we immediately, we ordered some warm salty edamame.
Along with a glass of wine and beer, of course. You know me. You know Joe. You know the drill.
We picked a selection of rolls off of the menu. Anytime you go to a place with sushi in the title, you know that’s what you have to order.
ALL. THE. ROLLS.
The rolls were presented beautifully, although there’s no way in hell I could remember what we ordered to help recommend what to get.
Here’s the deal with Sushi Ran though. The rolls are just too big.
There’s way too much rice, and popping one of these in your mouth is no easy feat. It makes choking semi inevitable. Which is disappointing, because the rolls are genuinely delicious. just could have done with far less rice.
Maybe it was a once off thing. Otherwise, prepare yourself to gag and potentially have half a roll fall right out of your mouth and onto the table.
Or maybe that’s just me. Just me?
Anyways, after our sushi, we tucked into another round of drinks before a little bit of evening exploring.
How beautiful are these clouds? The entire San Francisco bay area is always surrounded by clouds, engulfed in them and it’s beautiful.
Our stroll led us to the water, where we stumbled upon a little dock called Scoma.
I was playing with that jean on jean look. Elegant.
Can you tell that I just got my brows done? Because they really look good guys. Really.
We popped into Scoma for a quick drink and then went on our way back to our hotel, the Casa Madrona for an early night’s sleep…
PS. I’d definitely recommend the Casa Madrona if you find yourself in Sausalito. They have four poster beds, a gorgeous bath and balconies with pretty views like this one!

I’ve been to Sausalito and funnily enough we ate at the blue restaurant behind you in the picture, it’s called Scomas. It was so retro but super cute!

Ah it is Scomas with the s, isn’t it? I’ll have to change that. It’s such a cute little place. We sat outside and had a drink (despite the chilly weather), but the food looked incredible. Too bad we’d just come from dinner! xx
