Hair.
We love it. We hate it. We wreck it. We say sorry and we make up. When it comes to looking after your beautiful tresses, don’t overlook your strands. Treat those babies with respect and they’ll return the favor.
I haven’t chatted about beauty for quite a long time on Flat Eleven, and I’m really keen to make it another great part of this site. So to kickstart the beauty reign of the summer at Flat Eleven, we’re talking all things blonde.
I never used to be that adventurous with my hair. But over the past few years, I’ve had my hair dyed all sorts, from the darkest brunette to the blondest blonde. And it can take a massive toll.
I used to have straw-like textured horrible hair. It was atrocious. Until my hairdresser shouted at me and said I needed da da da da… Biotin.
Let’s put it this way: it’s a game changer. You have to be dedicated. Much like if you’re putting in a massive effort at the gym… it takes a few months to notice the effects. Trust me. It helps promote healthy, strong locks. I’m currently taking biotin supplements from Holland & Barrett but you can pick it up practically anywhere.
Next up. Diet. Add in ALL the spinach. Eggs. Omega-3’s. If it’s good for you, it’s good for your hair, your skin, you.
I know, I know. It’s hard to be healthy when you work around the clock. It’s a goal of mine to eat more salmon lately… and to try and run three times a week. Do the best you can!
Okay, all inner balanced? It’s time for the outer work.
Now, that I’m attempting to rock the brightest Khaleesi blonde colour, I need all the help I can get. As maintenance is essential, I try to use shampoos and conditioners that are specifically designed for blonde hair. Lately, I’ve been turning to the John Frieda blonde range to look after my locks and keep up my colour game as long as possible.
Finally I think I’ve settled on the right colour for my hair. I am loving the blonde. So I won’t be moving onto any drastic changes soon.
And here’s a little secret that you may or may not already know. Start your shower with hot water. Hot water opens up hair follicles, releasing any dirt or trapped product. But once you’ve finished washing up with the warm, turn the shower dial to cold. It is possibly the worst feeling in the world after a lovely warm shower, but rinsing with cold water closes the hair follicle and locks in the hydrating benefits. Great for extra shine. I’ve been doing this for over a year now and I swear by it.
So, what are your top hair tricks? Feel free to share the love in the comments!
