Oh, the Swedish Way.
In case you’ve missed it… living like the Swedish is completely on trend. With the rising concept of hygge, and a healthy lifestyle, paired with a work/life balance that we all could get on board with… well, we all want to live that Nordic lifestyle, don’t we?
Which means, that we should definitely be celebrating Midsummer like them too! And that’s also what our pals at Rekorderlig Cider think!
You’ve surely heard of Midsummer before? Whether it’s been a Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare’s famed play or even the summer solstice, which takes place on June 21st (today!!)… the Midsummer in Sweden happens to vary ever so slightly.
On June 24th each year, the Midsummer arrives. It’s known as a gorgeous Swedish celebration of summertime, where past generations of families were known to dance around a maypole and include flowers and greenery as decor over houses and barns. It sounds like a Pinterest dream board. Long ago it was done to bring good fortune and health to the Swedish. Now? Slightly outdated in the belief of bringing health, but I don’t blame them, it definitely might be more about decor for that perfect Instagram shot. I hear that.
So the Swedish still totally celebrate this long-held tradition and I without a doubt can relate. Summertime for me has always been about this feeling of nostalgia. There’s something in the summer air that breathes freshly cut grass, a cool breeze, summer BBQs, chilled Rekorderlig Cider and picnics.
Landing in New York two weeks ago from London for our summer holiday… the minute we stepped off the plane, I felt it.
Summer makes me feel like a kid again. I’m a little more goofy. A little bit carefree. I forget about any daily stresses and embrace the relaxation. Whew. It’s bloody LOVELY.
Think about summer. About the fresh air, shimmery pools, ocean waves lapping up on the shore, lakeside docks and the less nostalgic, but equally very important over the years, cheersing with pals over chilled drinks. It’s about long drives to the country, outdoor picnics and toasting with loved ones, family and friends. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been lucky enough to start the summer exactly how I’ve wanted to.
It means, I’ve been lucky enough to go from sundown into the early morning laughing, dancing and celebrating with family. I’m lucky that I’ve started the summer exactly how I wanted to.
And now? I’m going to be continuing to celebrate summer with Rekorderlig Cider and #StartTheSwedishWay!
Rekorderlig Cider’s flavours for the summer that I’m loving right now? Their Strawberry-Lime and their Wild Berries. In the daytime, I served them up with blueberries and limes. Seriously delicious. But when the sun goes down? I crave a cheeky bit of mint and strawberry to go with them. Served, always with ice because the summer 100% requires a cool glass in hand.
Escaping London for a little while has been dreamy, because where else can I grab s’mores or sit outside by a fire pit? But I know that even when I won’t have any more outdoor space for cookouts and backyard parties, I’m looking forward to summers in the London parks near our flat and Saturday afternoons spent gloriously lazing in the sunshine.
So yes, while my summer getaway in America is coming to a close, a new adventure is about to begin! And that’s a definite reason for extra celebrations!

Ahh I love the Strawberry & Lime one! So lovely and sweet.
I’m from Finland and midsummer is a pretty big celebration there too – I always miss it when I have to stay in London and all my friends are celebrating! x
