Welcome to Lima Floral.
In what may be one of my new top foodie places to visit in London… I have a treat for you.
On a very busy Wednesday night, my friend and I popped into Lima Floral’s Pisco Bar for a cocktail (okay a few rounds of cocktails) and after work bites.
While the upstairs houses the main restaurant, if you venue downstairs, you’ll find yourself at the Pisco Bar. Aka your destination for Peruvian cocktails. We arrived to an extremely crowded downstairs, so we grabbed two seats at the bar to catch up over cocktails before settling into a table for food.
On the drinks menu, we tried the Pisco Sours. We went for the Clàsico. Very similar in taste to a margarita… but with a bit of a twist. Who knew egg whites made for great cocktails? We felt healthy drinking them. Ish.
Accompanied by a little basket of bread to start the evening. Quinoa bread as well as a speciality that of evening, chocolate bread. It was seriously good and definitely not what you’d expect would work well as an appetizer. It does. Trust me. And it comes with this incredible garlicky yogurt dip that we may have embarrassingly been fawning over a little too much.
While we nibbled away (read: scarfed down) the bread, we chatted over the menu items.
So what did we end up with? Plenty. We decided to choose two hot and two cold dishes and split a sandwich. The sharing plates that aren’t massive and are portioned really well.
First on deck. The King Crab sandwich. I’m such a sucker for ordering fish dishes, so this was a must. The brioche roll is on the sweet side and it’s certainly a flavorful sandwich. You could never accuse Lima Floral of bland flavors.
Next we tried the beef empanadas, which were really delicious. Warm flakey crusts with a sauce that is out of this world. (After polishing off the yogurt dip, this became the new bread dip).
And onto the crusted prawn with sauce and corn nuts… alright I want to say in retrospect that they were corn nuts. I could be wrong. The prawns were fantastic, but I’m still not sure if corn nuts are really my favorite thing.
As for the cold dishes, we were recommended to try the octopus, which may have been my favorite of the night. Braised octopus, olive potatoes and a chorizo salad. The flavors were phenomenal. I’d order this again in a heartbeat.
Onto the yellow potato causa with coriander, lime and tuna tartare. This was a close second favorite. It’s a gorgeous dish.
The Pisco Bar food is unparalleled. Who knew food at the cocktail bar could be quite so good?
We left after several hours, until we’d almost caught up on everything in each others lives and enjoyed plenty of the Pisco Sours. We went another Clàsico and finally with little to no convincing our server brought over the Maracuyá, a passionfruit Pisco Sour.
I think if we hadn’t tried the Clàsico first, this would have been a contender. But if you go, go Clàsico. It’s our definitive pick of the two.
We emerged from the Pisco Bar back into the real world. Isn’t Lima Floral such a beautiful restaurant?
Next on the list is to try out the main restaurant upstairs for sure!
